I figure everybody has atleast 1 "hard" day, the one you really look forward to. Mine is leg day. here's my routine

2x10 snatch squat
squat:12,10,8,6,6
Lunges: 4x10-12
hack squat: 4x12
Leg extensions &curls (superset): 4x12
Then I usually do some leg press with calf exercises. I get sick, and it fucking rocks. Lets see some good routines fellas. Also, feel free to comment on my leg day. I train in 3 phases. Right now I am in phase 1 where I am going with higher reps, trying to strengthen my base. Phase 2 and 3 have lower reps for improved strength.

I have done hard squat and deadlift sets.
Squats:
6 sets of 10 reps with 300lbs with 60 sec rest between sets.

Deads:
6 sets of 10 reps with 300lbs with 60 sec rest between sets

I puked after both of these...not on the same day...that would be near impossible.

One of the hardest training that I have ever done has been my strongman training.
Tire flip: 700lb tire, 3 hard sets
Sled Pull: 3 hard sets
Sled Drag: 3 hard sets
Farmer's Walk: 4 sets

This is a workout that will make you hurt like none other. Works muscles that you never thought that you had.

When I switch to this workout, I gained over an inch on my chest.

Pre-exhaust: 2 sets of flat dumb. flyes (20-30 reps)

Incline bench press: 7 sets (2 warm-ups, and then 12, 10, 10-8, 8-7 reps)

Flat dumb. Flyes: 3 sets ( 15, 12, 12-10 reps)

Dips: 2 sets(mid reps)

Flat dumb. press: 3 sets( this one is hell)
12 slow reps each sets at the same weight

and finally,

Cable Crossover (3-4 sets) 15, 12, 12 reps

This workout takes me about 60-70 min, and I only train each bodypart once a week.

I have a lat pull down machine at home which is plate loaded. It is a commercial piece which I purchased 10 years ago and works better than any of these new multi cable lat machines. Anyway, my buddy came over to train back with me and we were about to do lat pull downs. Before I loaded the wieght I came up with a great idea. Instead of putting plates on the machine I had my friend stand on the platform so I could lift him. He wieghed 190 lb. I got on the machine and started to lift. Watching him being hoisted up got me so fucking pumped I went crazy. We switched on and of for about 6 sets. Thats all we did for back that day and I couldnt move for a week.

Okay here's my new leg workout, it has benn my hardest one yet. I got it out of Arnold's book "The Education of a Bodybuilder"

It's all supersets:

Squats and leg curls: 5 x 15
Lunges and leg extensions: 10x15
Standing Calf Raises and situps: 5x 15
Then twists and wrist curls.

This hit me hard ,I don't think I've ever done that many reps on one exercise. The hard part about it is there is minimal rest, only 45seconds on the squat and leg curls, then no rest for anything else. For some reason the standing calf raises and sit-ups were a bitch.

I need a good traps workout. Anybody??

I posted this on another thread for someone who wanted to blow his delts out. My traps grow no matter what, so I don't train them that heavy. All you have to do is add some more sets for traps. Here you go:

When I trained, everything grew except my delts. My back and chest were huge, but I looked the same because my delts were not
that well developped. What I did was to put my delt training on a seperate day( I was training it after back), combine it with traps, and I made it the first workout of my split. I trained every bodypart once a week. The gains I made were incredible.

This was my delt workout:

Military presses: 7sets: 2 warm-ups (20 reps)
1 light (15 reps),1 x 12, 1 x 10, 2 x 8.

Lateral raises: 3 drop sets, starting with 12 reps to failure, and using 3 other weights all to failure.

Rear delts: 3-4 sets 12 reps

Upright rows: 2 sets wide grip ( 12-10 reps)
2 sets close grip (12 reps, to target the traps)

Shurgs: 5 sets: 12, 10...

This workout is not designed for beginners, so if you haven't trained for more than 18 months, don't even try it.

I don't recommend doing this workout, especially the drop sets, every week. And use it for no more than 12 weeks at a time. When not using the drop sets, it's 5 sets for side laterals.

If you want a trap workout only, I remember reading a training article in Flex: Monster Traps by Nasser El Sonbaty. If you want me to post it, just ask and I'll dig it up.

I got a crazy workout for every bodypart. Here's for Back:

Pre-exhaust: 2 sets of pulldowns 20-25 reps

Wide Grip Chins: 5 sets: 12,12,10,8,8 reps.

Lat pulldowns: 2-3 sets: 7-6,6 reps

Barbell rows: 6 sets: 15,12,12-10,10-9,8,8-7 reps

Seated cable rows: 4 sets: 12 reps

What makes all these workouts hard is that I only rest 1 min between sets, and up to 2 min between my last heavy sets.

It takes about 60 min to complete. If you like dealifts, you just sub. it for barbell rows.

I don't think the difficulty of a routine is always determined by it's length, but rather, how hard you push yourself. That is, you think you can only do 6 reps for a certain weight on squats....but if you really used your mind, and got down and grunted you could probably do 10 reps. So really, it is the mind that makes the routine strenuous.

The hardest workout to do PERIOD END OF STORY, GAME OVER...

B.F.T.! Beyond Failure Training (I don't know how good the results are because I just started training in this fashion for a change of pace.)

NOTHING, NOTHING IS HARDER OR MORE INTENSE.
go to www.nuclearnutrition.com and look at the articles under Beyond Failure Training, there are 5.

I did the back/bi workout today and got more pumped than I had ever been. I also was literally reduced to tears on the last couple sets and almost lost bladder control, it's that intense (if you do it right).

Here you go:

Dumbbell shrugs: 3sets: 15,12,8
Barbell shrugs: 4sets: 12,8,6,6
Upright rows: 3sets: 12,8,6
Cable upright rows: 3sets: 12,8,6

Everything is to failure, and it's a 8week program.

Personnally, I never use any routines that are designed for pros, so if you don't juice, lower the # of sets.

Most of these articles are written by ghostwriters but Nasser seems like a pretty smart guy, so I get the feeling he wrote it.
