My girlfriend asked me why wrist size means so much in terms of total arm size. I could not adequately explain why it matters. Do you know?

I read that the size of untrained calfs and forearms are an overall predictor for strength. Example being if some SOB had big untrained calves and forearms and then worked out he would be a lot stronger than someone with lil calves and forearms. What do you think?

sounds about right to me, my calves were 15.5" and forearms 12.75" and wrists are 7.5" ankles 9.5" and I'm stronger than most my height weight now, and really have always been.

p.s. I am by NO MEANS a genetic freak or anything LOL but yah I do think having larger skeletol frame, and more muscle mass to begin with will definetly make a person stronger.

I have crazy small wrist and ankle measurements, but am still very strong for my weight. The small joints are actually good from a bodybuilding aesthetic perspective.

Look at bodybuilders like Frank Zane, Shawn Ray, Melvin Anthony, and even Steve Reeves who all had small wrists.. and due to this it worked in their advantage..creating an illusion to all that viewed them. Due to small bones and joints the surrounding muscle just looks twice as big as oppose to someone with huge bones and joints.

There is a formula, created by a guy called John McCallum, based on wrist measurement. Its aim is to provide a realistic guide for indicating full-size potential of natural male trainers:

Chest: 6.5 x wrist
Hips: 85% x chest
Waist: 70% x chest
Thigh: 53% x chest
Neck: 37% x chest
Upper arm: 36% x chest
Calf: 34% x chest
Forearm: 29% x chest

It is assumed that wrist size directly correlates with bone size throughout the body, with some people this is not true, so some variations are to be expected. Also, many people have at least one body part that responds better to training than other parts, producing at least one measurement an inch or so bigger or smaller than the projected ones. It is recognised that these measurements are guidelines and for use as targets, and can be exceeded by many athletes, particularly when steroid are used.

The truth is out there? Anyone know the URL?

my measurments are all within 1" of that scale!?!?!? looks pretty accurate, but I know I can get bigger and naturally.
