Hey guys, I've been working out off and on for a couple of years, but this year i want to really get serious about it. I'd love to get more knowledgeble about the various training routines and nutrition stuff. If anyone knows a good resource for a beginner/intermediate it would be so appreciated! thanks in advance for any help.

Hey nik, First, figure out a goal. Is it to lose weight, gain weight, or to just add muscle mass? Second, make a plan. Get a couple magazines or talk to some bro's here to get a routine set for your goals. Third, check out this website. Hulkster has a page that can help you from here and get a routine that will incorporate nutrition, water intake, and supplements. Fourth, and most importantly! Stick to it religiously! Don't let anything stand in your way. Period.(!) ------------------ Rock On!

My suggestion is to begin with the basics. Required reading for anyone getting into training is Pumping Iron. Regardless if you are a girl, guy, beginner or advanced this book is all about old school training and building a solid foundation. Many newbies, not only on this board, but all over lack basic fundamental knowledge of nutrition and technique. Read this first before diving in to crap like musclemag or flex. All to often these publications will sidetrack and confuse people. Stick with the basics and you will do great. LOL "The other day a woman came up to me and said, "I really want to touch yor body", I said, "I don't blame you"...

Punch is right about the reading. I should have clarified that in my post when I said to get magazines, I meant to say "quality magazines". There are a couple out there. Don't fall for all the hype bullshit. Stand clear of all the ads and false promises. If your on a tight budget, it may not be possible for you to go out and buy books and such. If your serious about your goals then you will find a way. Again, check out Hulksters website here on the EF website. Just do a search for him in member pages. ------------------ Rock On!

Read Read Read and talk to people. Just the ones that look like what you want to achieve. You will find that most people in the gyms dont mind honest questions. As long as you are not getting in their way or tying up equipment. If you find someone at the gym you that has the profile you are looking for as they dont mind then ask if you can train with them one or twice. Keep training and stay tough |
