You could do your sprints after leg training. I know that this doesn't sound appealing...but if you wait about 30 minutes, drink some water...maybe eat some simple carbs...it can be done. Not done well, but done.

You could even try sprinting the day after legs at a seperate session, if time permits. that is when i tend to do mine. I feel as though this also helps relieve some of that delayed onset muscle soreness. Just remember warm up and cool down real well, and stretch. I know I hate it to, but for recovery i feel it is a neccesary evil.

How do you split that: do you do sprints after weight training, how many days do you take off , what muscle groups do train around your sprinting, how many days between leg training and sprinting... need the info.

thanks

I do legs on Tuesday...and sprints with a sled behind me on Saturday morning with my other events training. That is enough time for me to recover.

Do your sprints before you work legs. If you do it afterward it's useless because your legs are so fatigued. If you do it before you get max benefit and it won't have very much of an effect on your leg workout. It can actually help.

I incorporate sprints into my cardio routine and definitely do not do them on leg day. Here's the routine I use (High Intensity Interval Training):

Day 1 sprints
day 2 rest legs
day 3 rest legs
day 4 train legs
day 5 rest legs
day 6 rest legs
day 7 rest legs
Depending upon what you are giving priority size/speed you could switch day 4 to 5 to give a day extra rest in preparation for training or sprints.
