My buddy just got an Ab Wheel at Wal-Mart for like $10. I played with it alittle and it seemed pretty tough, like it would be a good workout. How effective is this tool? Does it hit the targeted muscle area effectively? Any major risk of injury? Thanks

I like mine. It seems to me to tone my ab muscles more than build it up like crunches do.

It's a great way to really work your abs You need to mix up your ab routine and the wheel is a good thing to use, harder than it looks too!

The wheel sounds fine, by buddy has one. I prefer cable crunches, stright and alternating. I do not see many people doing them. It does no cost anything, the big cable tower thing is paid for by the gym and there is no extra fee beyond membership to use it. The alternating cable crunches hurt. When I first tried this I though I f'ed up and hurt something. Now I know what kind of pain the torso can take and it's kind fun to blast it :^) This is definatly a go heavy or go home ab motion in my opinion, you can do light weight all day and feel nothing...

I bought one. Normally I don't work my abs unless I'm dieting. But anyway, I did one set of 10 and only got to 5 the second set. When I do them I stretch all the way out to about an inch off the floor. It really helps stretch my lower back out (bad back), but my abs have been PAINFULLY sore for days now. This thing really works, I may never do crunches again.

The AB wheel works, and it also works a lot of other muscle groups at the same time. If you notice, all the Ab rolling devices are built around the design of the original ab wheel. It's a great tool to ADD to your existing Ab routine. (and for 10 bucks you can't go wrong) ------------------ Rock On!

Hey baldbeefman, did you happend to read the thing about beginners. Sets of 7 pal, hehehehe. yea, the wheel works great, I paid 10 bucks for it and it gives me the same workout as 700 (100 of 7 different ab exercises so you don't all snap and say i'm lying) crunches used to give me. I'd recommend it to anyone. Be careful about keeping your back straight or it can make your back hurt badly but I haven't really seen any risk of injury. ------------------

It works good, nice break from the same ol' crunches. Save 10 bucks and use a dumbbell or if your gym has sets of barbells for curls, they'll work too.

Damn I used it for the first time the other day, I thought it was gonna be a cake walk but holy shit im still sore from the work out. Its great for lower abs if you go like a inch or 2 from the ground. ------------------ |
