http://www.elitefitness.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001154.html this is my workout schedule, 3 days a week. and I walk 3.5 miles to work twice a week (necessity, not for BB purposes) I would also love to do brazilian ju-jitso or some other type of grappling art. without any gear (or supps, besides protein) do any of you think that I be preventing gains (assuming I'm getting sufficient calories each day, which I am). I do not show any signs of "overtraining." I train heavy every week. I hate to throw the term "overtraining" around, but what do you think? Is it possible to overtrain while only working out 3days a week with my workout? I become very sore every workout (not that is always a sign of growth) I almost don't buy it that it is possible if a workout takes 1hr or less (3 times a week), the human body is not meant to sit on it's ass all day and type on the computer or do whatever.

You shouldn't be over training. Before I got a car I used to walk to college, home, then 1/2 hr. walk to gym, walk to g/f, walk home, everyday. I'd also be carrying my gym bag, a rucksack full of food, my folio case, and drawing equipment. Damn did I used to hate all that walking. I used to have this plastic tube thing that carried my drawings in as well that looked like a rocket launcher. I used to get called Commando at the old gym because of all the 'kit' I was carrying. However, I did manage to put size on. The main thing is calories. If you are walking everywhere you will burn more so if you're trying to bulk, just make sure you get the extra. Some bodybuilders work on their feet all day and it doesn't really effect your gains, as long as its not strenuous intense walking. Just eat some more food while you are walking to work. Still glad I've got my car now though, I hate walking, cars make you really lazy.

Surely you aren't overtraing if your walking this distance only twice a week. If you were walking that 3.5 miles 5 or more times a week, you might want to do some serious thinking about your caloric intake. I'm sure your diet is sound and you are compensating for the extra energy expendature. Of course, I would train legs on a day that didn't interfere with all the walking. ------------------

at school I illegally park wherever I can to avoid walking an extra foot. If I can just lift a Handicapped plate....

overtraining is just a line in some book. i dont belive in it..as long as you have a good diet, and get your 8 hours of sleep. youll be fine..you musclegains might not be as good as i could be becasue of the extra cardio work, but we all have to choose. ------------------ "Pain, is just weakness leaving your body" "...damn you for not giving my TEST" - Metallica "After this show i'll be fat and happy again.....If i make it to the show...." - Lee Priest "Lets put some weight on the bar.." - Shawn Ray "IT DOESN'T MATTER" - The Rock

MrMuscle speaks the truth, tho he could get his ass sued by Lee Priest for stealing his line... The only way to find out is to try... if you become overtrained, then you know you gotta change something ------------------ "how much can you really know about yourself if you've never been in a fight?" i workout 6 days a week...been doing it for years. nvr feel like i overtrain. my workouts are not all weights though, i run, swim and cycle a lot too. Always get three or four squares a day with 2 or 3 other supplemented meals like metrx...plus i eat powerbars to reduce the free radical damage after workouts.
