Any one can do them. They help to strengthen the lower back and hamstrings.

I do them and love them. It's not so much for the lower back as it is for my hams. I get a good low back workout with squats and deads, but i need something a little more for my hamstrings.

I always heard they were mainly a lower back exercise, but I noticed my hamsrings got extremely sore from doing them, so I do them with hamsrings now. They work very well for me, but I have to do them VERY slowly, since my lower back is injury prone. I fucked it up again a few months ago using too much weight and performing the reps too fast. Pay attention to technique and feel the stretch in your hams as you do them. They make my hams much more sore than any kind of leg curl. I like to superset goodmornings with leg curls for hams. Sometimes I will substitute hyperextensions for goodmornings, especially if my lower back is weak from injury (about half the time anymore). Try them, they definitely work. ------------------
