I was in the gym yesterday and i was going to do some stiff legged deadlifts, there in front of me was a pair of little things called " THE HOOKERS" they are like straps they prevent you from losing the bar because of grip, any way i have never been one to use that sorta thing but i figured what the hey.so i did my regular warm up and then a set, same as usual, grip was the first thing to go,so i put these things on my hand and i was able to get 7 extra rep's outta the same weight,to make a long story short, the whole work out was Good, more weight and reps all in one day.......i guess i have never had such a good hamstring work out before....because today i am paying for my sin's of cheating,my ham's have never been so sore.....i think i will have to try it again.

Interesting... I've never seen anything like that before, but to call it cheating might be the wrong choice of words, if it helps you to work harder, I'd call it anything but. My grip goes a lot too, especially in deadlifts.

do u mean u were cheating before by not using the straps??
or using straps is cheating,

if your goal is to work your hamstrings why is it cheating?

i would understand if u were at a powerlifting contest and they wanted to see who can stiff leg deadlift the most weight, but come on u were at the gym

It was really ment as a joke, i have nothing against straps,i will use them again. That was just the first time i had ever used them.and i did not realize the huge advantage they give you.that particular exercise is the only one where my grip gives out,in all the others it hold's,so i will definatly use them again.

I don't use straps at all. Well, let me rephrase...when I go to heavy singles on deads (550 and upwards) I may use straps, but I just stick with chalk. That is just my perspective. I do not use a belt or wraps or a suit for anything either. Again...this is just the way I wish to train.

I use straps on heavy deadlifts, and heavy barbell shrugs. Usually, by the third set. I believe they take your mind off focusing on not dropping the bar, and allow you to focus on pushing the heavy weight, and building the hams, or traps. Of course, weight belts are another story, they can hinder strength building of the abs and lower back, which are obviously directly proportional to strength achievements.
