Tonight was chest night for me. I have been going heavier on bench than usual, and killing myself. I felt really good in the gym. I work out in my garage in my power rack with just me, the weights, the heater, and the dog.

I did it. I broke the 400lb bench barrier. I benched 403.5lbs tonight without a spot or lift off, no bounce.

Don't forget...don't give up...don't ever give up.

Nice brother. Bench is not one of my strong lifts, and I've yet to get over 400. I've noticed that you've always been helpful and well spoken with everyone on the board, and I'm glad that you've acheived this brother, you deserve it. Keep whoopin ass

At the risk of sounding like an idiot. Is a power rack the same or similar to a Smith Machine? I don't know if it's true, but someone at my gym said using a Smith Machine is like taking 30 pound off of your lift. I'm not so sure how true that is.

By the way, CONGRATULATIONS keep up the hard work. Now reset that goal, and get to work!

A power rack is like a squat rack that has adjustable safety pins. The pins can be set directly below your chest so that if you get stuck you can lower the bar to the pins. You still have to lift the bar off the rack, use a regular bar in a regular manner, then re rack the bar.

No difference in lift, just safety IMO.

Figures...I set a personal record then end up in the hospital with a 104 temp and a bad intestinal virus. Didn't eat for about 3 days and haven't quite got back to eating much yet. Just when things start going well again...

Ohhh well, guess I will get back in the groove again.

Thanks for the info. Once again, congratulations! Don't be discouraged about getting sick. Your body can probably use a break from lifting, and you'll come back stronger than ever, when you get your food back up. Keep us posted.
