I've read a lot on the pros and cons on the
squat when it comes to the knees, but I also
heard that heavy leg extensions could be good
or bad for the knees. Which is it?

heavy leg extensions are even harder on the knees than squats because the bicep femorious and the glutes are not involved very much at all.

Never let your legs fall beyond 90 degrees either.

I always begin my leg work out with 100 reps divided up into sets of whatever with 25lbs on the leg ext machine and 20 reps with 25lbs on the leg curl. Then I do squats. I do them no-no-no style and to the floor. Did 485 for 3 reps tonight and when my eyes finally focused afterwards...I thought that I was going to die.

I do not do heavy leg exts because they seem to hurt my knees. Full squats do not, but for some reason it seems that if I go to paralell it seems that they do. Probably just in my head though.
