How many of you have ever been slapped in the face by your workout partner before doing a set. My old partner used to slap me on both sides of my face right before he helped me on my flat bench. It would turn me into a fucking beast. | ||

yeh its funny that you say he slaps you on the ass, i remember asking this quere looking cunt to give me a spot on shoulders, i was doing barbell presses-heavy, i told him i wanted to do bout 6 reps and if i needed a little hand just give a bit, he was so f u c k i n g WEAK that when i got to about my 4th rep i was struggling like a prick, he just stood there and watched, he then decided he would do something, and when he tried to take a bit of weight off me he pulled the barbell back behind my head. i felt this popping deep in my shoulders i thought i was fucked, anyway when i got up off the seat this quere little prick had the audacity to slap me on the ass and say what a good set i performed, he was lucky i didnt slap him on the mouth and tell him how he rooted my shoulders. anyway THIS IS WHAT I GOT FOR MY SLACKASS TRAINING PARTNER NOT TURNING UP | ||

My training partner and I regularly punch each other before a set and also when we cannot get another rep out. It usually works and we get the extra rep or two. Making each other mad definately helps. I call him a pussy, tell him everybody is laughing at him, and ask him how much he wants to grow as he's about to give up. The other week he had a row with his wife just before training. I told him on his last rep that his wife thought he was a pussy and would never be as big as me. He got an extra 4 reps. | ||

If someone can make you mad and force you to pump out another 2-4 reps, you ain't lifting hard enough. Everyone has on and off days, but with some clearing of the mind before a workout this mental weakness can be distroyed. I shall not fear... ------------------ | ||

100% correct Valdez.I 'm in that zone where we all push ourselves to complete failure 30mins before i even enter the gym.I don't need no one screaming at me to lift.If i did,i wouldn't be putting in the max' effort. ------------------ | ||

Valdez, this works, and it is proven time and time again. I go to the gym and yes I do go in to put in maximum effort, 100%. My mind is focused on my work out all day, I eat around my workout, I plan everything around my workout. I enter the gym with the sole purpose of hammering my body as much as I can. As you train though, the body is under tremendous stresses and we get pain barriers that we must break through if we want to grow. We are trying to damage muscle tissue here, to make it grow back stronger. Now if you were in a night club and someone started shouting in your face, what would your reaction be? If someone gave you a dig, how would it make you feel? F*cking angry I'd assume. This anger is pure energy which can be used to make the body push through these barriers. I know that some guys seem to scream at every rep, when they are not really trying but the type of intensity that I am talking about takes years of hard training to achieve. Watch the Worlds strongest man competitions and see how many of those guys hit each other and shout at each other, then tell me it won't make you perform better. For as far back as I can remember, fighters have their cornerman shout at them and dig them to psyche them up. Martial arts is my field and to increase stiking power calling out a Kiyai as you hit works, same principle; a technique known throughout the world for thousands of years. good point strengthmonster. The pain barrier for higher rep movements (like squats!!) are easier to overcome with a 2nd person getting angry and rowdy, it raises the stakes for sure. ------------------ |
