I WORK MY ABS AT THE END OF EVERY WORKOUT

Abs at the end of every workout, unless really pressed for time. Even cardio days. 5 or 6 days. Is once every five or six days a good idea? Some people believe it is like any other muscle group. They say train it like any other muscle group, infrequently. My experience has been to train often and intensely, and slowly as possible with weights to increase size of abs. I don't think it's like other muscle groups. Made up of small twitch fibers and can be worked more frequently than others. Also, some say the same for calfs, although I only do calfs on leg days, once per week. Just my 2 cents. [This message has been edited by Hot Bod (edited December 18, 2000).]

4, usually 5 times a week. Ever used a Swiss Ball? If you have one available, learn to use it, if you don't already. It is a superior ab workout. I would think abs would suffer with 1 or 2 workouts per week. ------------------

Abs 3 times a week is plenty. Remember that you need to train abs with a good amount of wieght. This muscle group is similar to forearms and calves in that they get used very often in everyday use, so to stimulate your abs you need resistance. If your doing more than 12-15reps your not using enough wieght. However if you are using enough wieght your abs should be sore the next day and you will need to rest them like any other body part.

I do them about 1 to 2 times per week. I workout Monday, Friday, and Saturday. I try to do abs and calves at least twice a week. I hate training either of them. I use dumbells when doing crunches. I keep the reps low and the weight high. It works a whole lot better than doign 25 to 30 with no weight. I can see bigger cuts in my abs adn once the fat is away i'll see it even more so. For lower abs I get on a sit up bench, decline it and sit on it backwards (so that I am in an incline position and holding on to the bar behind me.) I then take a 5 lb dumbell and hold it between my feet and do leg raises. Only about 12 reps

I work mine once a month, and I always have a six pack. I think its genetic. ------------------

I never work them and have a nasty six pack. heavy front squats and overhead pressing will hit them enough.
