what lifts widen your back and chest? what lifts thicken your back and chest? does it really make a difference? does it all depend on your goals?

first off, for women incline pressing and flye movements are more effective. they will also give the appearance of perky breasts, . a women's chest routine would be simple and have less volume than a man's. ex. incline dumbell press 2-3 sets incline dumbell flye's 2 sets cable crossovers 2 sets * every other week substitute flat bench DB press. I don't think of back training as widening/thickening. there are two types of back movents: pull-downs and rows. each movement works a SLIGHTLY different part of the back. pulldown movements predominately upper-outer region, under the armpits: which make the back wider. rows also work the entire back. my back workout is the following. you might wanna' decrease the volumne a little, use the same exercises or equivilant movements. maybe do pulldowns if you can't do enough reps for chinups. ------------------ quote: [This message has been edited by Valdez (edited December 11, 2000).]

hmm....I was just thinking that certain back exercises will thicken your back, where as others will widen it....same with chest.... I know what you mean about the appearance of a perky chest....my breasts are not huge, yet, with my bra on I'm 42inches, without I'm 32.....the 10inches isn't all my breasts..... My problem is I love doing deadlifts, stiffy's and reg., and more recently I've found out about keystone deads and have been doing them....but, now I find my lower is strong and wide and I wanted to have my waist smaller.....my stomach by no means is flat, but, doing deads will most certainly not make my waist smaller....so, it seems it's either a smaller waist or the wide back....... and no, I'm not gonna build my upper back more to make my lower back look smaller....hehe..I don't want to look like a football player.....my shoulders are broad enough as it is... Thanks Valdez... If you've got something to add, I'll be looking to read it

quote: awh! darnit I love lats on a gal. hmmm, if you don't want to look like a football player maybe you should cut out reg. deadlifts and do chinups/pulldowns. trust me when I say that chinups will give you a more feminine physique, hourglass figure is more about the back that the bust. btw: I like B cups on my women. barbell rows will thicken and strenthen your upper back to bring it up to par with your lower back. BTW: thanks for the compliments on my pictures, "5'7" eh?" it's not my fault I'm short, but darnit I like being short and stalky!! so ssplooooouu!!! (sound of me sticking out my tongue and blowing air) later Lisa... ------------------ quote:

Hey Lisa, There aren't any exercises that widen or thicken your back or your chest. It is all determined on your genetics. I recommend using the best exercises for your chest and back. Pulldowns are great, but chins are better. Shrugs are good for mass. If you're looking to thicken your back, shrugs are awesome. Deadlifts are great, always use proper form. As far as chest goes, Parallel bar dips may help you out. I love them. If I didn't answer any of your questions, I apologize. Hey Valdez, I love your picture or Dorian. Here's mine.
