I find that when I am not on juice that the Heavy Duty program works well for me. My question is how much more should increase sets, and days lifting per week when I am on gear. What do you guys do? Thanks.

I have never used gear so I wouldn't know what to tell you. Most HIT trainees are drug free lifters.

Dorian Yates trained with mike mentzer.
He does not do an H.I.T. workout persee yet with one maximal set.

I would recomend doing something like this:
say you can bench 315 for 1 rep max.

1st set: 135 10x
2nd set: 185 10x
3rd set: 205 10x
4th set: 255 (or whatever weight) to failure

do all exercises similar to this. split the workout's into maybe 3-4 days. check out my thread on "I really like this new workout I'm folling" it has a sample workout that I do in this very fashion.

Maybe this helps,

peace.

I stick with my same HIT routines that have worked for me in the past. I just up the intensity with more forced reps, Negs, Partials, Rest/Pause Strips etc, etc. I basically cash in on the added recovery ability.
BTW I gained faster naturally using HIT than juicing and using the volume approach. I am a firm believer in HIT!!!

Thanks for the replies bros. I am going to cut down the volume on my next cycle and see how it goes.

Bro,
When training naturally, I do 3 days out of 7, mon/wed/fri
like this :-

mon Chest/legs
wed back/tris
fri delts/biceps

I do 45 minutes on each body part, so a workout usually
lasts about 1.5 hours,
When on a cycle, I will train a lot more intensely, using
drop sets, and 21 sets, but mainly using big weights for
medium reps (6-12),
Natural training is just a maintainance phase between stacks
for me.

I firmly believe that if you train with the intensity needed, you can not train a body part 2x a week. Neither the body or the mind can hold up. My opinion, if you can train a body part 2x a week, you are not training hard enough.

I have been using the original heavy duty program which only lasts 25-30 minutes 3 times a week and feel like I am going to throw up after every workout. This proves to me that workouts do not have to be long to be effective. Mentzer is the man!!

If that works for you bro, then stick right with it, every
body is different and reacts different to each method.
Trial and error is the onl way you will learn what works for you.
