I'm having a hard time gaining muscle, losing fat, and I tend to gain fat in the thighs, hips, and ass (slight pear-shape). Any suggestions? Stats: Male, 30 years old, 175lbs, 5'11" Thanks for any suggestions

your trying to gain muscle #1 the body can only allocate so much of it's energy for one purpose, whether it's cutting or bulking. lifting/gaining muscle is going to create a FAR GREATER VISUAL change in your physique. what he was trying to get at is that you should go gung-ho on trying to build muscle first. at 5'11 175 and with all the info you've giving us: ie (workout 4 days a week, cardio sessions, calories, etc) this is NOT working for you. IT IS TO MUCH OF A DEMAND ON YOUR BODY'S RESOURCES, DROP THE CARDIO AND MAYBE UP THE CALORIES. good luck

Don't forget, the more muscle mass you have, the easier it is to burn calories. Muscle will burn more calories even when you are sedatary.

Ya... if you're trying to shape up, pick either bulking or cutting. It's extreamly hard to be in a metabolic and anabolic state at the same time. Lift really hard and then when your foundation is built up, do a few months of intensive cardio.

In doing that bk do you still take in as much protein as you do when you are lifting? And you lift a little to keep your size?

You'll still want about the same protein, but up your carbs during hard cardio otherwise you'll draw too many cals from protein which is needed by your muscles to stay sizable. You should still perform compound movements but rest assured that you will lose muscle when you go on a fat loss program. |
