Eat at least 100 grams of carbs after an intense workout along with your protein. Your body needs carbs waaayyyy more than protein after the workout. "gpt4" receptor (sp?) is activated during exercise and this allows carbs and water (yes H2O) to be transfered into the muscle WITHOUT INSULIN. you need to gobble this food down within 45 min to get the full advantage!!! and the protein too, just need to remind ya'll how important those carbs are for anabolism. | ||

Suggestions for carb intake after a workout that ends around 9:30 at night? I currently use Muscle Meals, but it only has about 12 gm of carbs. | ||

I read somewhere that anything with fructose (fruit, fruit drinks) is a bad idea after working out. I have no idea if its true, but I stay away anyway, wich is no hardship since Id rather eat veggies. | ||

fructose (from fruits, Hi-C is not fructose)is an Excellent scource after a workout!! sucrose is what you don't want. 2 pieces of fruit, some oatmeal or rice. or whole wheat breads. wk. after 9:30, eat at least 100-130 grams of carbs if bulking cause you gotta feed yourself during sleep too! so you should actually be eating MORE carbs. | ||

i take in about 60 grams of dextrose with creatine, and a banana after a workout, then in a bit i have my protein feast, usually red meat, or chicken | ||

dextrose is great. also I've been using snapple or fruit works drinks lately too. I think those are pretty good for getting about 50-70 grams of simple carbs down, then go slam some starchy carbs or some vegies. fruit wouldn't be a bad idea (but they are slower to absorb) it's not the gpt4 recepter it's like the givt or something? damn, I know it's there though, so I'll use it! | ||

Light slin cycle right now. 5iu's post workout. 4-6oz grape juice (15-25g sugar),slin shot, wait 10 minutes, 10g creatine juice mix (75g sugar). Wait 30 min, 2 cans of tuna, cup white rice. I love it. B True | ||

i usually cane down some coke (i.e. the fizzy variety) or some other fizzy drink, as thats usually jam packed with sugar. But its sucrose and u just said thats bad. But as far as i remember, sucrose is a glucose and fructose bonded together??!? Snyhow, my gym is a full hbours journey away so any ideas on how i can get my carbs. muching dextrose tablets--> will that work? |
