What I want to know are crunches and situps so hard that people need these rollers and other contraptions?

I always try to vary my workout that way it doesn't seem repetitive. So I was wondering weather or not anyone recomended and of these toys. I bought the ab slide and it seems to work pretty well, of course I throw in some crunches and leg raises to get a really nice burn.

If it works for you....more power to you. All those contraptions are not necessary. There is no "magic machine" that will give you a ripped midsection for just 5 min a day!

It is relatively easy to grow abdominal muscles w/weighted ab work and just train them as you would any other body part. Twice per week is enough. They will show when you lose body fat - so cardio is more important here. But you must develop the muscle BEFORE you cardio yourself into oblivion. MASS first - THEN cut.

Some of the ab machines aren't that bad.Training abs I would suggest probally 3-4 times per week.

Here is what has been working for me. I have been doing weighted crunches, 2 to 3 sets of 12 reps. I have been using 45 lb dumbells, its hard to get them positioned right sometimes, but it really has been working. Ive got some deep cuts, a nice four pack, (haha...the lower ones aren't coming in as well) For my lower abs, whatever you call them, I do cable leg raises. Ive always had trouble with the lower section so just give it a try its working for me. And I dont know about those ab contraptioons on tv, I'll bet they all suck, just look at some of the claims they make. They always bring up the myth of spot reduction, and none of the people that sell the stuff are well known in bodybuilding.

I agree with Bikini Mom totally. If it works for you, keep it up then. Sorry if I came off as a prick. I just never saw the need for stuff like that.
