Just would like to know one thing: I read somewhere that Profesional bodybuilders and bodybuilders that don't wan't a wide waist, don't use deadlifts. Is this right. If i Want my waist, not to get any wider, should I drop the dead lifts???

It does tend to thicken the Obliques (but so do squats) unless you have no natural taper I would not worry about it.

Iron God is right. Small price to pay for the many positives of deadlifting.

yeah it will thicken your waist......and your quads and your erectors and your traps and your teres and your rear delts and your rhomboids and your lats and your gluteals and your hamstrings and your biceps and your forearms. G.

lol at G That does tend to be a problem doesn't it? I noticed that it really seems to thicken when I was heavy weight and low reps (I'm talking 90%+ of ORM). But if I keep up the reps and the weight moderate it doesn't seem to be as obvious. But I'd agree with everyone else that the benefits of deadlifts far outweigh whatever little thickening of the waist you'll get. I don't know about everyone else, but I bet mine doesn't gain more than a half inch. Do you have a six pack already? If not I don't know that I'd be so concerned about it anyway.
