WHO OUT THERE HAS AN OPINION ON WHICH IS BETTER? I KNOW EACH ONE IS A GOOD MASS BUILDER BUT WHICH HITS THE BACK THE HARDEST.
ANY REPLIES WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I like them both!

You can do more weight with the bar so you can push your back to the limits. On the other hand, I can get a little better isolation with the dumbbells, especially when leaning against an incline bench. So I can't really say I like one over the other, they both work very! well for me.

yes i agree, but i tend to like the dumbells better because there is a longer range of motion and you can really feel it when you bring it all the way up. barbell rows tend to put too much stress on my lower back so i dont like to do them anymore. but both are really effective.

I like dumbells better, seems like I get a much better stretch........But I've always heard barbell rows are the best mass builder, just try em both and see which one suits you the best......

I like dumbells more because you get a better stretch and they put less strain on my back. LATE

I like using the barbell. Seems like i've always had better results using the barbell in almost every exercise. Still I mix them up but my personal preference is the good ol' BB.

Dumbell rows will thicken your lats while barbell rows will widen them. However, if you do chins, it pretty much does the same as BB rows, only better.

I would say that you have more control doing the rows with each dumbell rather than with a barbell.

i prefer dumbell rows and if you train them hard you can use pretty decent poundages,i have done 150lb db rows x4 but i cant do 300lb barbell rows x4 so in your opinion which is the better mass excercise?????

dumbells make me cheat to much, I tend to heave them up and twist my torso a little. BB rows while done in a non-explosive manner and without heavy cheating (a little is ok, prob. better.) is the best exercise.

I'm not joking everyone I know that is/was worried/paranoid about good form makes no gains whatsoever.

lift heavy and get big.

I'm with Valdez on this one. I used to always do DB rows, but one day I finally used proper form on BB rows and my back was killing me the next day. Ooooohhhh, THAT'S how that works! Ever since then I've liked BB rows because my form is much better with them, no cheating.

I like to use them both. Also I'll change up barbell rows one workout, then use T-bar the next. I usually like to end my back workout w/dumbbell rows; get a nice stretch.

i wouldnt even put the two exercises in the same category. barbell rows are king. try using a reverse grip waist wide. thats to thicken your back. use a overhand grip with pinkies on the lines on barbell(wide grip) and thats to widen your back. mass weight bro, after you learn form. stay strict and you cant go wrong. for d.bell rows, i use those for a finisher. great isolation movement! dont raise your shoulder when you pull the d.bell. keep it flat with the bench your kneeling from. hope these ideas help.

I like barbell rows a lot because I think that it makes my back grow well and I can go heavy. I can work harder and closer to failure on dumbell rows though, so intensity versus heavy weights.
