I read it don't currently own it. It OK alot of the principles are solid. Some of the exercise are crazy. And the author (forgot his name) has a thing for lifting in dirty basements and outside.

I think it is geared for people who want ot be big and strong, through all planes of motion, with a strength that is real, transferable to other tasks and more "honest" than that of the typical BBer. I also think that most if not all natural BBers would do a lot better if they paid more attention to the likes of Brooks, and less to Uncle Joe, when it comes to training advice. Then mebbe we would have more big strong atheletes, and less spaghetti stick spandex clad machine addicts.
Thanks, G.

Well put Gforce. I guess I'll have to break down and buy it. I've been debating for the past year. Let me say that I am a female who gives a rats ass about cables and machines. As a firefighter and competitive strength athlete, your sistah ain't got time for BS!
I'm usually over on the women's board but thought I'd stop by and say, Whaaaats uuuupppp!

Why?
Try doing that sitting on a Swiss Ball.
Being able to bench and squat and dead huge amounts of weight does not have the same functional transfer over to your daily activities.
I gaurantee you someone who can squat standing on a swiss ball with 60-70% less weight than someone who is squatting normally is stronger.

Opinions are like assholes everyones got one,but unfortunately it seems that you my friend have never really been put through a swiss ball workout. If you have and it was easy,it is either 2 things....1-the trainer that put you on it was shiat or 2-you do not know how to preform the exercises properly.
No flame just a fact.
Yes it is a piece of blown up material that looks like a mutated ballon but looks are decieving.

hey ...
Iron God...(cheesy name by the way)....i think the whole point of dinosaur training is functional strength over aesthetics, and do you honestly think Brooks Kubik looks like shit??????????????
Kubik has an excellent physique, along the lines of John Grimek. He might not win any trophys in the IFBB today, but i know what i would rather be.

You start by simply sitting on the ball then you would graduate to kneeling on the ball, once you can kneel on the ball for a couple of minutes then you would try to go into a squatting position then to standing from there and then try to stay standing on the ball for several minutes then try to do squats using your own BW.After try asking someone to hand some dumbells to you and after that the big lift would be to do squats with the bar on your back.I've seen it done at the gym before.
Try taking your bench press over to the swiss ball,it's very hard to do.Takes a great deal of strenght to do.

Because it is harder, you thought squatting was hard just on the ground try squatting on a ball.It taxes your nervous system to hell as well as making your stabilizers go into overdrive.

I laugh when people knock things like this, cause they can't even do it.
BB can do this even though they are probally happier just squatting but for athletes using the swiss ball is one of the best tools for them.

Uh, I think in G's case, the correct term is "big" bitch. =) "Gargantuan" might be a little more accurate, though.

I don't know if I would ever try to squat on a ball and NO I am not THE strongest board member, however, I normally have no difficulty executing push-ups w/proper form (I like to superset them with benchpress during high intensity workouts during cutting cycles.). I tried push-ups on one of those "silly rubber balls" and I did manage to do a set of 12 reps - damn near died in the process - but I did them!

I bet in the book they lift stones in the park =)
