I'm a 17 year old male, and am interested in buying an abdominal machine. I'm wondering which one will be more effective. I'm real interested in the one that has you sitting in an upright position called "Abb Rocker". Tell me what you think will get me rock hard abbs in no time. Peace

Do you honestly believe that an ab machine is going to give you ROCK HARD ABDOMINALS? No machine will. Most machines are scams and they cost too much. Stick with basic abdominal exercises. That's all you need to work your abs. I'll list a few exercise. LOWER ABS: Hanging Leg or Knee Raises, Reverse Crunches, Incline Kneeups UPPER ABS: Crunches OBLIQUES: Oblique Crunches, Side Bends If you want your abs to show, you have to diet. Cut out sweets and stay away from fatty foods. Take in 6 small meals a day. Drink a lot of water. Limit your carb intake after 6 PM and eat a high protein meal an hour before you go to bed. Get 8-10 hours of sleep every night. ------------------

Don't waste your money...you can do much better just by doing exercises for your abs. Hell...all you gotta do is crunches to build a solid base.

If your going buy an "ab machine" just buy a decline seat. it is very effective for ab work and can be used for other movements too.

sll those products on tv are marketing scams, they all come with a diet program and additional aerobics; think about it, if you eat right and excercise, you wouldn't even need the to buy the product in the first place.

Hit Bodybuilder I usually agree with what you say. But do you really beleive i nupper and lower abs? Its all just one muscle. I firmly beleive hanging leg raises if done right and full range crunches is all that is needed.

I have to agree with both you Steel and HIT. They will work the entire abdominal wall, whether it's full range crunches or leg raises (with a good slow burn on the eccentric part of the movement). However, my lower "2" lagged behind the rest of my ab development before I utilized more leg raises. They have quickly come up to speed. ------------------

I believe that Hanging Knee Raises hit the upper abs as well, but I feel more sore towards the lower area the day after. No, I don't believe that Knee raises just hit the lower abs and crunches hit the upper abs. I believe they both hit the whole abdominal wall. I use side bends because I don't feel any stress in my obliques when I do crunches. ------------------ -HB- |
