Well i have never been one to use any kinda supplements, except a multi-vitimin,so any way i was in GNC to re-up my stash of vitimin's,and i decided to try some protein powder,i saw all the selections they had and was confused, i decided to not ask the person behind for assistance, cause they just try to sell you the most expencive shit they have.I saw whey, soy egg protein, and for some reason i decided to go with the egg protein. Can any one tell me the pro's and con's of one over the other ?did i get a good kind?..it is made by optimum nutrition.

For me, one the best protein powders in Met-Rx ADS (anabolic drive series) Pro 50. It has a blend of Milk protein isolates, Caseinate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Glutamine and Lactoferin. It has 50 grams of protein per packet and tastes delicious. I prefer double-shot chocolate. I think most people will agree that Whey Protein is the way to go. This particular shake can be used as a meal replacement, since it has a large amount of protein (50g), 14 grams of carbo's, and 2.5 total fat of which only 2 grams are saturated. (270 calories)

If you're only looking to increase your daily protein intake you can buy large containers of Whey, that you can mix up. I sometimes supplement with GNC's Pro Performance instantized 100% whey protein. Generally, they have far fewer calories (130) and much less carbo's (5gs). Fat's about the same. These are not meal replacements. Hope this helps.

Optimum Nutrition Whey protein. 5lb jug for only about 25 bucks. 22g protein a scoop and only 1 or 2 carbs. Good shit!

Which is "best"? VARIETY is best. Whey, calcium caseinate, egg, milk, meats, soy... They all have a place in your diet and should all be included. Get yourself some whey protein (like Designer, Nytro Whey, etc) and some blended protein (like ProBlend 55 or something similar) from GNC or netrition.com, etc, and the rest from the grocery store.

As far as the differences between protein, most people generally agree that there is very little difference between the proteins when consumed in large quantities. As long as you get your protein, you're golden. However, if you're anal about this sort of thing, I would have to recommend a split of 60/40 Casein to Whey. Casein is a longer acting protein as it stays in the body much longer than whey so it can be used for repair.

Whey is generally conceived to be better solely because it has better bioavailability. Egg protein is good, however it is more expensive and not worth the expense. Soy protein should be avoided by men because of its estrogenic properties. However, it is quite alright, and often beneficial for women.

www.proteinfactory.com

they ARE a BLENDER. NOT a hyped up supplement company

Whey protein is derived from cheese in hundred million dollar factories.

If you think Sportspharma or Mustletech MAKES the protein I HAVE NEWS for you.

The type doesnt really matter as long as you are gettting at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. But an excellent protein that mixes well with water is Met-rx

ok, york's protein drink says it's made up of free-form amino acids. it didn't really say whether it had whey, egg etc. protein. I was wondering if anyone has or is using it. are there ANY side effects of having the free form amino acids, and is just having a protein suplement as effective? and are free form amino acids 'au natural'? i want to start getting an increased protein intake as i find it hard to get a low fat source of protein all of the time (tuna's startingh to get boring), so i need a source. which is the best?

All Protein powders you buy in the store suck ass. Just make your own formula from www.proteinfactory.com
You'll definately want:

CFM Whey Isolate
Hyrdro Whey 520
Caseinate
Egg White Protein maybe
glutamine peptides
aminogen
