Do you folks lift heavy every week every workout. I have been 4 days a week. I was wondering if it might be beneficial to cycle a week that I do higher rep movements and focus just on getting a maximum pump? maybe 2 weeks heavy 1 week higher rep (repeat) what do you think?? waste of time? I don't feel that I am overtraining but I do feel that my body could use a little rest from day in day out Heavy lifting. Not taking roids ![]() ![]() ![]()

whenever i'm trying to build mass and/or strength, i find that periodization works best for me. i usually do a 12 week cycle starting with about 55-65% of 1RM for just about 8-10 reps, and adding about 5% each week while dropping a rep. this is just a baseline, but that's the basic idea. i have a sort of "active rest" week in the middle also. there are some pretty good web sites around with periodization examples. i find that for me it's the way to go cuz i need to see on paper how i'm making progress, or if i'm falling behind, rather than just going to the gym and lifting my brains out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
