ANYONE WORK OUT THEIR FORARMS? ------------------

I work my forearms at least once a week. I would prefer to work them twice, but I usually only have time to hit them once. I usually work them right after biceps, using reverse curls or hammer curls as a transition exercise. My forearms used to be very small in comparison to my upper arms which are about 17 inches. When I started working them hard they grew, so now I dont look like I have sticks tied to my elbows. My workout is as follows: Behind the back barbell wrist curls, 3 sets 10-15 reps, standing dumbell wrist curls, 3 sets 10-15 reps to failure, and reverse wrist curls, 3 sets 10-15 reps to failure. Talk about pain, my forearms get such a pump during this workout I can barely steer the car on the way home, if I did calves on the same day I wouldnt even make it home!

I also work forearms and right after biceps, but most people don't. They tell me that their forearms get worked when they do upper body. Which is true to some extent, they get worked indirectly. To make better gains though, you need to work them directly. Think about it, any upper-body exercise, rather it be the bench press, millitary press, bent-over rows, bicep curls, whatever, involves your forearms. With weak forearms you are only going to make minimal gains on those muscle groups because your forearms arn't going to be able to support any kind of heavy weight. But just the opposite will happen if you start working them independently and more directly! For some reason though, most people don't understand this, especially at the gyms I go to. -------------------------------------- Train........................(S)mart

I am training forearms now on the same day that I train my back. Biceps are the main secondary muscle involved with back workouts so it seems like a decent time to train forearms. I never used to work my forearms and the result (I think) is severe pain in my elbows where the muscles from the forearm insert. It makes a lot of sense that stronger forearms will make a big difference in any lift that invloves grip strength.

twice a week here. on arm day and back day, because that's when they're pumped/warmed up the most during the workout.

I never do wrist curls or wrist extensions. I really screwed up my wrist doing these exercises. The only way I work my forearms are is through grip work. Get the book, "Master of Hand Strength," it's pretty good. ------------------ -HB-

ooook. Definately always train forearms. Gotta be some of the more fun parts to train. No one at my gym does them, so I look like such and idiot doing wrist curls lol. Everyone stares at me. ------------------

forearms size is usually determined by body type. an ectomorph like my self has to do a shitload of wrist curls and wrist roles just to try to maintain a normal size. most of you im sure have no problem gaining forearm mass. right now my forearms and wrist are just to fucking small so i gotta keep at this shit |
