I WAS JUST WONDERING IF IT IS OK TO HAVE A PROTEIN SHAKE ABOUT 10 MIN AFTER YOU DO CARDIO? THE TRAINER AT MY GYM SAID NOT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO EAT UNTIL AN HOUR AFTER CARDIO BUT IN THE MORNING AFTER I AM DONE IT I FEEL SOOOO HUNGRY. ANY INFO WOULD BE A GREAT HELP. THANKS

bump. I think that the protein would be used as energy not for synthesis so you might as well just eat an orange and small bowl of oatmeal with a protein shake (small meal) about 30 min after...

I used to always wait an hour after cardio to eat, however I read recently that if you consume a small protein shake,no carbs, no fat, such as designer whey right before you do cardio your body may not break down as much of your muscle tissue for amino acids during your exercise. This seemed to make sense to me, so I tried it. I was pleased with the results, I think I held onto more muscle mass this last time I cut up. It felt kind of funny to be eating anything before my morning cardio, but even if it slows the fat buring process a little holding onto muscle mass is always a good thing. It also makes it easier to wait that hour after your cardio session. Try it, you might like it.
