This is my 1st post guys. I am 5' 11' and 165lbs. I have some upper body shape but want definition. I have been working out on and off for the past 2 years. I must admit I have a better physique than all of my friends. But then again none of my friends work out. I Seriously I don't care to be 220lbs. My goal is about 185 and well defined. My workouts right now suck. I keep listening to different people with different ideas. It can't be that complicated. Hell, Lou Farigno lifted coffee cans filled with cement and got huge. I am seriously considering the andro, Norandro, etc stack on this website. What do you think??

First thing you should do is CLEARLY define your goals. They should be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and within a Timeframe). Saying you want more definition is specific. Saying you want to reduce body fat from 20% to 10% is specific. Etc, etc. Once you have clearly defined goals, you can create a plan to help you achieve those goals. There are 3 major components in weight training: Diet. And I feel they fall in that order too. Diet is the most important because regardless of your goals it is usually your diet that will make or break them. Sleep is important for recovery. You'd be surprised what an extra hour of sleep can do for you. Training is definitely important, but it doesn't have to be complicated. Incorporate a solid weight training program with some cardio (only if you need the cardio) and away you go. Stick with compound movements (squats, deads, chins, dips, etc.) with the intent to build muscle. The more muscle your body has the easier it is for you to burn fat. I doubt you'll become 220 unless you put an honest effort in becoming 220, so don't worry about that. And don't be scared to experiment with rep ranges, sets, etc. Everyone responds a little differently than someone else. ------------------

Chuckster, If you have lifted for just two years and it sounds like they were not under a well defined routine, then you don't need the andro and stuff. I'm 41yrs 5'10" at 199lbs. I have been lifting under a defined program and it works. Define a good program which includes proper nutrition and rest as well as the lifting and you will get there ASAP. |
