I let myself get grossly overweight while on a bulking cycle. I'm starting a cutting cycle in a month. I wanted your opinions on the workout I plan on following. I plan on doing intense cardio in the morning for at 30 min x 3 times a week and increasing that to 5 x a week. At night I want to do my regular heavy 4-6 reps workouts. What do you think? ------------------

4-6, sounds like max overload, ive read that even on a cutting cycle you should give it your all without half ass, maybe you can take less time in between sets; ofcoure then you would have to use less weights(circuit training), in my opinion i would try to lift the exact same, just keep protein and fat up there, and try to do cardio and weight training 8-10 hours apart

If you want to lose fat and maintain muscle mass, I recommend that you train as if you were trying to build muscle. Try to go as heavy possible. If you want to do cardio, then do three 30 minute cardio sessions a week. The main thing you need to fix is your diet. If you're doing 3 cardio sessions and 5 weight training sessions a week, you will not see any results if you're eating like a pig. For fat loss, diet comes first. I recommend working each body part intensely once per week. Cut out all sugar products like candy, sodas, etc. It's okay to eat fruit, but don't eat too much of it. Fruits are simple carbs. Eat them during the earlier parts of the day. Eat a balanced diet, just cut calories. Be don't go so low where you're left with no energy. If you have any more questions, please ask. ------------------

I have a related question. Is it possible to gain muscle while losing fat. I've heard that it's impossible to be in a metabolic and anabolic state at the same time. Is this true? Obviously if you gain muscle, your BF% goes down, but are you really cutting fat? |
