DO you guys know of any good anti cortisol supplements. I've heard that PS (phosphatidylserine)is a cortisol blocker, i've actually heard that although otherwise completely useless HMB helps to block cortisol. I would appreciate any advise on this topic. Hey Pete, are you eating low carbs? If not, the most sure fire way to kill cortisol dead is with insulin. Drink a protein shake with dextrose (or any other simple sugar i.e. glucose, but NOT FRUCTOSE!) post workout, and eat high glycemic index complex carbs with protein an hour later i.e. potato/rice/pasta/cold cereal with lean meat. Also, throw about 5g L-glutamine in with your post-workout shake, and you might wanna try a supplement called Cort Bloc (sorry, forgot who makes it or what's in it!). IP: Logged |

I have been doing a lot or research on this in the last few months, trying find a good cortisol blocker to take after my wrestling workouts when I know my cortisol levels are sky high. Cort Block is PS you have to take 800mg of PS before your workouts to be effective, that can get expensive. Glutamine is very good but if you drink a lot of whey protein you shouldn't need it. A couple that could be good are 7-isopropoxyisoflavone and Isoinokosterone (Beta-Ecdysterone). I Just started taking A brand of 7-methoxy-isoflavone the same stuff in Methoxy-7 but not made by biotest. I will let you know how it works. Later bro.. IP: Logged |

Vitamin C has been shown to have a positive effect in lowering cortisol levels when taken after a workout. Plus it's cheaper than PS. The last post is right, insulin in high amounts is no good for fat loss. There is a strange but vital connection between cortisol and insulin levels in regards to stored fat. The more space you put between these two substances, then the more you'll be able to burn fat as well as build muscle. Remember that insulin and growth hormone are very closely associated...too much insulin results in low growth hormone levels as well as high cortisol levels. Vitamin C lowers cortisol levels, alpha lipoic acid helps prevent high surges in insulin. Both can help you break the cortisol plateau. IP: Logged |
