i just read about this in the anabolics board saying FDA is presenting a bill to Clinton to ban prohormones and who knows what else and place them as illegal substances. This is the same shit that happened to the rest of the roids in the past... IP: Logged |

check out ESPN's column on it, they say if Andro meets requirements they will be banned, and so far it's passed two of 3 tests. Last one will determine it. IP: Logged |

Here's a snipet from the Associated Press article than ran on June 26, 2000. ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - President Clinton's top drug policy adviser said Monday the muscle-building supplement that Mark McGwire made famous should be classified as a steroid ``within a few months.'' ``I've got to do something about andro,'' Barry McCaffrey said in a speech to the Citizenship Through Sports Alliance. ``I've got to get valid testing completed, and I bet that's the way it comes out: that andro is a steroid.'' McCaffrey said andro already meets two of three tests used by government laboratories to determine whether a substance is a steroid. ``I suspect we'll find that it meets the third, although I have been saying that for over a year now,'' McCaffrey said, admitting that tests should have been finished already. If androstenedione does meet the third requirement, it would be declared a steroid, illegal to use without a legitimate medical reason. Androstenedione supplements are made of a naturally occurring steroid hormone. The body metabolizes andro into testosterone, which is considered a steroid. When supplements of testosterone are taken in high doses, they are known to have an anabolic effect - increasing muscle size and strength. IP: Logged |

Andro sucks anyways...the bad thing about is that now steroids are looked at as being even worse now. ------------------ quote: IP: Logged |

I'll bet that McCaffrey will try to ban sleep and food next because they help build muscle, too. IP: Logged |

this is the e-mail I got from Musclemaster about it: "We have it on good authority that the government is basically one step away from banning the sale of all andro and andro-derivative products. Barry McCaffrey, the nations top drug policy advisor, said in a speech that after valid testing is completed in the next few months, he feels ando will be classified as a steroid. The government has been looking into the role andro products play in elevating hormone levels, and they are apparently coming to the conclusion that they do act as mild anabolic steroids. Over the past 18 months, weve heard similar threats from time to time, but this seems to be by far the most serious. Right now Id say it looks like at least a 75% chance that prohormones will be pulled off the shelves in the upcoming months. I'd say the action would come by September if I were a betting man . . . it may even be a lot sooner than that. Unfortunately we can all moan about how corrupt and political the entire system is (a product like tobacco continues to be sold despite the overwhelming evidence of its detrimental effects), but the reality is that the FDA has made these decisions in the past with little or no warning. And this appears to be the case here. We've never overly pushed prohormone supplementation, although we have recognized their usefulness for educated, responsible, adult bodybuilders. If you use prohormones yourself, all you can do at this point is cross your fingers and stock up while you can. " ------------------ IP: Logged |
