I believe they call alpha lipoic acid a insulin potentiator. Also according to Duchaine brewers yeast and cinnamon are good in this respect. They are best both combined according to t.net. IP: Logged |

There are several compounds that affect the insulin system. Chromium and metformin act to increase insulin sensitivity. Vanadium and molybdenum salts can activate the insulin receptor and also prolong the effect of insulin. Cinnamon/fenugreek/eucalyptus can all cause insulin secretion. The thiazolidinediones, like Rezulin and Avandia increase the concentration of insulin receptors on the cell surface. Lipoic acid increases non-insulin dependant GLUT's on the cells and Laegerstroemia speciosa contains a compound called colosolic acid which may do the same. IP: Logged |
