O.K. I just bought some optimum protein with like 21g of protein a serving. I weigh 185 pounds and don't get too much protein in me a day. How should I take it each day. Thanx IP: Logged |

I'd suggest getting 90%+ of your protein from whole food. Use supplements to supplement, not to replace. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Two or three shakes a day along with quality protein food sources. Your total protein intake should be around 185 grams a day(this includes foods and shakes). Spread the shakes through out the day. IP: Logged |

I know that I'm just wondering how I should spread it out in a day. IP: Logged |

Try spreading out every 4 hours. Or in between meals. IP: Logged |

I like to have around 30 percent of my total protein calories per day for my post workout meal. This is whey protein with grape juice or Ultra Fuel, and a bowl of corn flakes and nonfat milk. This is the most calorie packed meal I eat for the day while following a mass gaining diet. 30% of my protein calories comes out to be around 67 grams of protein (270 calories) and around 122 grams of carbs (490 calories). Your body's enzymes and hormones are better fitted at this time to take advantage of quick digesting proteins and calories. Whatever calories I have left for the day, I just distribute them throughout the day in 5 other meals. On a cutting diet, this all changes because I like to do a CKD. IP: Logged |

I take optimum too, this is how I take it and was told how to take it by others. One shake in the morning, one after my workout, and one before I go to bed. Eat chicken too, theres alot of protein in it. IP: Logged |

I was just at the T-MAG site and noticed the article "Protein Conspiracy" by Cy Willson. It's postworkout meal is pretty much how I set mine up on a bulking phase. I use 30% to 50% of my protein intake directly after this workout. I originally got the idea from Duchaine a couple years back and it has been very useful for packing on the muscle. Sometimes I will do 2 workouts a day to take advantage of my body's hormonal conditions; Therefore, I am able to feed my muscles with an abundance of carbs and protein. I usually like to take 30 to 50 Percent of my protein calories after a one workout schedule, and if I do 2 workouts a day, I cut the protein calories to 25% after each workout. I distribute the other 50 percent of protein throughout the remaining 5-6 meals I have remaining. Usually my slow digesting proteins are at night. Anyways, before I get too much off the topic, I have added my 2 cents. IP: Logged |
