I am a newbie to the board. Have been prodding around and this site kicks some major ass. There is so much quality information, I don't know where to begin. Anyways, here is my question for the masses:
If you could only spend $200 a month on supplements, what would you buy? I started out as a 320 lb. fat bastard. Through hard work, strict dieting and weight training, I am down to 250lbs at 19% bodyfat. I am 6' 2". I still have a LONG ways to go, but am on the rach track. So what would you guys recommend? I have been using mostly EAS products, buying them at discounts from Internet Sites. I use creatine (Phosphagen HP @ $45 for 42 servings) and MyoPlex Deluxe Shakes (20 shakes for $37), which adds up to about
$200 a month in supplements. If I want to stay 100% natural, how should I spend my money!??!?! Thanks, Joe

interesting question...let's see...

if i were going through a lean out phase, i would start with a thermo stack ($40?), a couple tubs of a decent quality protein powder ($60), maybe a box of met-rx mrp's ($30), some glutamine ($20), and spend the rest on flax/cla/vitamins to top it off. this would all probably last more than a month, but you get the idea.

for mass of course, i would cut out the thermos and add more mrps.

$200/month is close to what I spend on meat.

My suggestion would be to buy real food with that cash.

there right, supplements are what they say, they supplement, you wont get that great if thats all ur taking. But make sure you get a good creatine, protein, glutamine, and try xenadrine if your trying to drop weight. Just my story, I had surgery 7 months ago and got up to 285lbs, couldnt do anything for 4 months recovery, and started taking xenadring, now weigh 240lbs. Thats after like 3 or 4 months. Also get flax oil, good multi-vitamine, and if your gona take something like xenadrine, get a good sleeping pill, hehe, others know what i mean.

What do you recommend for a creatine? I am currently taking Phosphagen HP and wondering if it is worth the cost. I have also read the anti-HMB stance on this board, which does make sense since EAS is the only company to successfully test HMB in it's labs. And to no surprise, EAS pushes HMB very hard on the consuming public. Basically, like most any of you bodybuilders, I want to get the most bang for my buck. Thanks, Joe

Tyler. Congrats on getting your life on track. Keep the ball rolling.
Now, the 1st thing I would do is ditch EAS. I know you like it but you can get better deals on identical products. As far as MRP's go you, since you are cutting weight should use a protein powder instead of an MRP. I really have gotten picky over taste in the past few years and have found DYMATIZE to have the best tasting and textured powders by far. I have a hard time finding Dymatize in local stores so I buy it from www.getbigger.com (J&J Health Foods in Las Vegas). Its 19.99 for a 2lb container-and all the flavors are AWESOME.
Next would be the obvious- a very good multi vitamin/mineral pack high in antioxidants. I like Super Nutrition-mens pack, but if you find a good one-buy it. These will usually cost you about .70-$1.00 per day, money well spent IMO.
Glutamine- look for a place that sells for around 45-50 per kilogram. Excellent for preserving muscle mass during intense training and dieting. Take 10-grams a day at your body weight.
creatine: just look around to find what kind you want, plain, creatine with dextrose/flavoring ect.

Bottom line: IF you want the most for your money -SHOP ONLINE. Ask the guys here where they shop.
Places to start looking
netrition.com
dpsnutrition.com
getbigger.com
enutrition.com
hope thats a start.....ask around!

if you're thinking of buying cheap supps from getbigger.com, you might want to check out sportsupplements.com... they are by far cheaper... but stay the fuck away from nathigh.com.... they are a fraud. remember that! they fuck me up over a US$600 plus order... still no news after 3 months

For $200.00 dollars I guess I would get protein powder, Flax Seed Oil, various vitamins, a creatine powder product and glucosamine/chondroitin. $200.00 dollars does not go very far.

ONLY $200????

Are you kidding?

I would never spend $200 on supplements in a month. Ever.

Quit looking for the magic potion. Lift heavy, eat lots of clean food, get plenty of rest.

Multivitamin ($5 or so a month), creatine ($20 or so a month), MRPs ($50 a month), Protein powder ($15 a month)

Total: $90.

I would spend the remaining $110 on more food.

If I'm going to spend $200 a month, I'm gonna get some gear.

definately agree. 200 a month is out of control, but if i had the 200 extra to spend it would be on some deca and anabolex.

I spend near that amount on supplements, but my aim is not to get any larger than I am. I take a lot of supplements to keep my cancer from coming back. My supplements have worked for me and I'm going to stick with them, even if it costs me dearly. I'd rather be giving my credit card a workout than being put back on the chemo (which by the way, the docs can go to hell, I'm not taking that poison again no matter what happens).

If I were in the market to get bigger, I'd spend the money on protein (2 or 3 shakes a day), acetyl-L-carnitine (3 grams a day), phosphatidylserine (1 gram a day) and flaxseed oil (taken as directed on the label). I'd also take a super high quality liquid vitamin supp like body balance. Some of my stack seems to be similar to the cytodyne ingredients, but I assure you, taking these amounts are much much more powerful than anything cytodyne has ever made. Besides, their stuff is worthless anyway. You can buy the individual ingredients at wholesale prices and double the doses and still spend less than stacking the cytodyne products.
