I am 6'1, 205. I used to be big into lifting, and I was about 225 with 6% body fat. Well, I got lazy the last few years, and I am probably near 15-20% fat now (i think). I am getting married in 4 months, and I really want to trim up. Don;t want to be fat on my honeymoon. I am getting back to the gym, and doing a regular lifting routine. I want to lose that fat by 4 months. I am not worried about getting my size back right away, but I want the fat gone. I am considering doing either the ECA stack, or a product I've found out about on this board - adipokinetix. What would work best for me? What kind of diet and workout schedule, as well as when take the supplements? THanks for all the help! IP: Logged |

I'm in a pretty similar situation, trying to lose some body fat within a few months for a summer wedding. A straight ECA stack with pure ephedrine and pure caffeine is probably the best, but it can be tough to fine the ephedrine in some states due to regulation. As far as herbal ECA stacks, most prefer MD6 and Hyroxycut to adipokinetix, but adipo is still pretty popular and people seem happy with it. My suggestion is to pick whichever fits into your budget since the results from any of them will be pretty similar. You should take your ECA 3 times per day. I workout in the evening, so I take mine first thing in the morning, another around noon, and the last one about a half hour before working out. Be sure you don't take anything later than 4-5 hours before bedtime or you'll have problems sleeping. As far as your diet, you'll want to eat 6 smaller meals per day as opposed to 3 standard meals to keep that metabolism up. I personally prefer a high protein, moderate carbs, low fat diet, but there are many theories regarding proper protein/carb/fat balance. I find that it's easy to get my 6 meals a day by consuming 3 high-protein meal replacement shakes each day as well as breakfast, lunch, dinner. Myoplex, Isopure, and the Met-RX shakes are all pretty good. Normal foods that I tend to stick with are egg whites, tuna, turkey breast (grilled and deli slices), and grilled chicken breasts. Do not skip breakfast, take a multi-vitamin every day, and add some fruits and veggies somewhere during the day and you should be all set. The diet might sound pretty boring (it actually is), but after a few months I hardly even mind it. I also have a "cheat" day on the weekend, but I've found that even my cheat meals tend to be pretty healthy since the diet changes the way I view food. Some folks like to take an alpha lipoic acid supplement with their meals to help negate excess carbs from the food. As far as a workout, lifting and cardio will help to burn that fat away while adding some muscle. Stick with your regular lifting routine, be sure to hit all of the major muscles in your body, including legs. The muscle that you build through lifting is going to burn the calories that are normally stored as fat. Do some cardio 3-4 times per week to burn some excess calories, whether it be walking, cycling, jogging, stairmaster, aerobics, or a combination. Whichever plan you choose, stick with it and you'll see results. Good luck! IP: Logged |

thanks for the good advice. You say that ephedrine is hard to come by in some states. In Michigan, they sell "Mini-Thins" which consist of 25mg of ephedrine and 125 of some other expectorant. Do you think that's suitable to use in the ECA stack? thanks again. IP: Logged |

Mini-thins are perfect for an ECA stack, if you can get them. I can't find them anywhere around me in Ohio, so I had to send away for straight ephedrine (which I'm still waiting for). The additional ingredient in mini-thins is probably guinfensisen, which apparently is used to stop people from using mini-thins to make speed. Interestingly, Primatene and Bronkaid are also good sources of ephedrine, but they tend to be more expensive. I've also heard that some GNC's carry straight ephedrine depending on what state you live in, but apparently Ohio is pretty tough on ephedrine sales. One herbal ECA that I don't recommend is Twinlab's Metabolift, which I'm currently using. For the first week, I was buzzing after taking it and I could really feel it, but this past week I've felt almost nothing. Hopefully my ephedrine will arrive soon so I can do it right. IP: Logged |

Ephedrine is pretty good, but it gives me the shakes big time... I like the nor-ephedrine in Adipo. It seems to work well and it doesn't give me the shakes. Also, when I was using ephedrine and working HIT in the gym, I would actually have to run to the bathroom because I was that close to puking...on the nor-ephedrine, I don't do that anymore, but my workouts haven't changed. I am on a CKD diet and in the past 2 months (I started first week of Feb) I have lost 25 pounds using Adipokinetics and Guggalbolic (both my Syntrax) but have been able to add weights per week. I starting taking the Adipo twice per day, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon, then I went to 2 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon...soon I will do 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. I take 1 Guggal 3 times per day. It really does raise my temperature! I had the chance to buy some Triax, but at that time I had never heard about it so I didn't...I wish I did because I wish I had picked some up. Good luck, Pubert IP: Logged |

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is a CKD diet? Also what is/does guggalbolic(?) do? IP: Logged |

Ok...Hold up...SOMEC!!!!! don't talk about stuff unless you have tried it...number two....don't talk about about what you don't know...Adipokinetix and MD6 are not herbal...I repeat are NOT herbal...the reason they are better than the eca stack...1norephedrine...2yohimbe...3md6 has guggulsterones and tyrosine and alpha lipoic acid...that is why is better than a straight eca stack you can make from the store...the only herbal you talked about was hydrooxycut...which I think is bubkus next to adipo and md6...see for yourself though...lmd6 will knock your socks off IP: Logged |

I agree deca. MD6 blows away all other fat burners by far. It's not even a fair comparison. I took Hydroxycut, Dymetradine, and Xenadrine at one time or another. It was the same story with each of them...they were effective for a short period of time and then they quit working. Then I took Adipokinetix, and I was amazed at how long it worked. The entire 2 month supply kept working even though I took it every day. I switched to MD6 and it is the exact same way...and you're right...it contains tyrosine and alpha lipoic acid and that will save me a bunch since ALA 200 mg 3 times a day costs me roughly 25 bucks a month in addition to other supps. MD6 is by far the best fat burner on the market! Makes the others look weak. IP: Logged |

Damnit, you guys are going to make me go out and buy the MD6 now... How much is the stuff? CKD is a cyclical anabolic type diet (cyclical ketogenic diet, you can perform a search on the web for it...good key words would be Dan Duchaine, BodyOpus, Lyle McDonald, Cyclical Ketogenic)...eat few carbs on weekdays and then eat high carbs on weekends...this description is highly generalized but contains the gist.
