![]() ![]() ![]() big baller....EAS is a joke...way over priced...you went to the best and cheapest place to get protein...you want a mixture of protein so the breakdown occurs over time...so a mixture of hydrolyzed whey, soy, casienate, and glutamine would be good....just go with there pre made versions.....there is a good mrp for the day time and a good night time protein mixture...use them IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Actually, Diesel, let's take it a step further: it doesn't even matter whether it's whey protein or not. The fact is that naturals have not gotten any bigger sonce the indutry began pushing whey protein. Has anybody heard of any study proving that ingesting whey protein will add more muscle mass than, say, milk and egg protein? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() In my opinion, Designer Whey is still the best protein out there. It only costs 20 bucks for 40 servings. Alot of the others a too overpriced, and nitro tech, although it may produce gains, is overhyped. Hell, i heard if u take the serving size and recommended dosages it will last for 10 or 11 days at the most. And to the guy that said protein is small stuff: Protein is the main building block of muscle tissue. No protein, no growth. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Designer protein is the best tasting and best quality for the money. Of course, other brands have good quality too. I do like precision protein also, and when I find a good deal on it, I buy it. Max Muscle makes a product called High 5 that contains 5 different protein sources to enhance a "timed release" effect of the proteins. I like it also. But since we all work hard for our money, then I'd say get the designer protein for a couple of months. Then experiment with the other brands. I'm sure you'll see that Designer is just as good. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Nitro-Tech is good if you have the cash. It is the best tasting and by far the best over all. I would not take the recommended three servings a day. One or two is enough. Get the rest of your protein from the foods you eat throughout the day. Eating is by far the best thing to do. EAT TO GROW. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Protein not important? That's crazy. You should see how much bigger your muscles will get when you increase your protein to at least 250 grams a day. Other supplements (other than vitamins/minerals) are the small stuff. I found a good deal at dpsnutrition.com on the brand alternative nutrition's whey protein. 77 servings for 27.50. They even have the lab results on the quality. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() everyone is concerned with brands too much. a good isolate protein is the best in my opinion. A whey, I feel is better for a time like post-workout, and a soy would be better for longer time release like at night time. and almost all of the brands that you buy at a place like GNC are overpriced. try http://www.proteinfactory.com/ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() As long as you are getting what the label states. The biggest problem are the rip offs. Check out Bil Phillips, "Supplement Review" for the latest on how some of the brands stack up when tested for their "actual" content of protein per serving. Sure he promotes his own brand EAS, but he is pretty fair in assessing the other brands he tests. To keep your body growing andto keep from getting catabolic you should ingest 40 grams of proteinwith or without carbs every 4 hours throughout the day, and if you wake up in the middle of the night it ok to have a drink then as well. You will be wasting the protein if you go much over 40 grams, because that is about the limit that your liver can convert to transport through your blood stream and to your muscle tissues in that time period. IP: Logged |
BackDoc Pro Bodybuilder (Total posts: 224) |
![]() ![]() ![]() That's actually a partial myth. Yes, you're right in terms of limited amount of liver enzymes allocated for protein absorption. You're also right that about 40 grams is around the limit for GI protein viability. However, as cortisol and creatinine levels rise, so will the need for extra protein, as your body will "manufacture" the needed protein from other muscles if it doesn't get it through the digestive tract. This means in laymans terms that following a very strenuous workout your body will basically utilize much more protein than normal. So you should take in extra protein within about an hour of your workouts. Of course, in order to help lower cortisol levels as well as to stabilize insulin levels in the blood (which is very closely correlated to growth hormone levels) you should take in both vitamin C (decreases cortisol) and alpha lipoic acid (mimics insulin). I hope this helps. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() To be perfectly honest, he's right. Aspartame is totally UNSAFE and I have proof. I have over a thousand case studies linking aspartame to various diseases and disorders. There is also a website devoted to building a class action suit against the former maker of nutrasweet. If anyone is interested I can provide it. When people find out the history behind the making of aspartame they will not be pleased. One source that backs this claim is the commerical pilot's flight manual which states that pilots should not consume aspartame containing products within 24 hours of flight departure since it has been linked to seizure disorders and loss of short-term memory. A friend of mine who flew A-10's said it's in their military flight manual as well, although I haven't verified this personally. Take it easy. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() AST's VP2 is the only 100% hydrolized whey isolate on the market. Its biological value is 188. Beats everything else. Obviously the best powder out there.... Regarding Nitro-Tech: this is a regular whey CONCENTRATE! It contains only 67 % protein. 67 PROCENT!! Thats fuc*ing low. ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah whatever, AST is full of shit on that one...They totally avoid the question and go on to state that it's full of "fillers and sweeteners", when anyone who has tried it can taste the Alpha Lipoic Acid in there without even reading the ingredients to know it's there. Plus they overlook the WPI 97 and about 5 other main ingredients beside WPC. AST totally dropped the ball on that question. (which they probably just ask themselves, and then provide themselves with an answer) Someone should ask AST why they don't have a creatine product with ALA....LOL Cuz they suck and because MT has it patented. Also somebody tell AST to get an editor or at least use a spell checker on their work : "Whey protein technology is now much more advanced that it was 10 years ago" "that it was"??? C'mon you'd buy from company that can't even spell their own propeganda right? I'd hate to see the rest of their operation. Oh and for you so called "scientific" guys, here's an article that will get you up to speed on aspartame. http://www.getbig.com/articles/aspartame1.htm [This message has been edited by Serial Joe (edited May 31, 2000).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() As far as the above link that claims to have the inside scoop on the latest "research" regarding aspartame (oh, and I like the little sublime flame of "scientific types" too), here's a boatload of information that will dispute just about everything the FDA and any other group has tried to say about aspartame. Use this poison if you will, but at least be informed of the risks. Here are a few hundred reports of adverse reactions associated with aspartame use. And don't give me the line that they are not real science because the article in the link above made no mention of any particular cited research proving the safety of aspartame...it only makes associations with cleverly wording such as "no evidence of brain tumors in humans"...but makes no mention about the hundreds of rats killed by experimentation with this stuff (sometimes it takes us "scientific types" to find these word games) http://www.holisticmed.net/aspartame/adverse.txt And if you want more to read here's a dedicated website devoted to uncovering and exposing the history of aspartame...betcha didn't know it was first designed as a neurotoxin for chemical warfare! The below site even has some documents from the FDA showing that they knew of (and may have helped to suppress) the research showing aspartame to be toxic. Check out the section written by more than a few M.D.'s and Ph.D.'s who agree that aspartame is a time bomb. http://www.dorway.com/ It's enough to raise many an eyebrow. Why use this stuff if there is even a hint of danger? Well, there's more than just a hint of it if you read these links. IP: Logged |
