Ok... just stopped by GNC and picked up a hell of a lotta stuff that was suggested to me, but I want to hear what you guys think. First off, let me give you a brief overview of my stats and my goals. I'm 20 years old, 6"1', 172lbs. and I've been lifting consistently (3-4 days/week) for 1 year. I also do cardio in the form of martial arts or running 2-3 days a week. My goal is to build about 20lbs. of lean muscle mass (i.e. not fat), but to keep the definition I've earned over the last year in the process. I started eating about 4 meals/day with protein shakes between meals about 2 weeks ago - prior to that I took no supplementation.

Today I purchased GNC's Creatine Monohydrate, Isopure's Whey Protein, GNC Vitamin C 500 tablets (833% D.V.), GNC Vitamin E 400 tablets (1333% DV), and Chromium Picolinate (167% D.V.). I'd like to know when, how much, and how often I should take these supplements to give me the best results.

I know brand names don't usually matter, so I bought mainly the generic GNC blends (except for the Chromium - something called Ultra Ripped by a company named Wielder; and the Isopure Protein which was suggested to me as the most pure of all whey proteins).

I'd really appreciate any advice. I'm still a novice, but I feel I have the dedication.

NOTE: I'm not looking to do competition bodybuilding - so I'm only interested in bulking naturally.

Thanks.

vitamin C and choromium picolate are useless(i think,at least in terms of gaining lean mass,u already get them in your muititvitamin,i dont think high doses of either do any significant other action,i just mean i have never heard of anyone making signifcant gains or any from chromium picolate or vitamin C,and i do not know if extra doses of vitamin support your immumune system anymore than the standard dose),all u need is a muitivitamin, i buy mine from costco 600 tabs for about6-7 dollars, theirs nothing wrong with the protein or creatine but u got ripped off,u should go back to gnc and depend a refund, isopure is the most expensive protein i have seen, its cheaper to just buy optiumum nutrition or another 5lb bucket mail order ,they are usually under 25 dollars,or www.proteinfactory.com sells whey concentrate for 4.25 a lb,also u can make your own replace powder at that site too, i dont know much gnc creatine is,but im sure its alot cheaper at kilosports.com,

Definetly on the right track. keep it simple and efficient. with supplements nothing fancy is neccessary or IMO beneficial.

multivitan, vitamin C (I disagree, about 3 grams daily is beneficial) it will aid the citric acid cycle with produces ATP the bodies energy, protein supps, MRP's, creatine, there are also some herbal supps that help but it depends on the person.

Aren't mail order prices sort of deceiving? I mean the shipping & handling costs add up.

Oh yeah, any other supp's I should be taking or is that good for now. Vitamin C and Vitamin E are not for weight gaining - they are for general health. I also take Centrum Complete, although I heard that isn't that good because it has 100% D.V. of Iron in it.

Those supplements are fine. Ordering online can be cheaper, for future purchases...even with shipping Make sure you are eating 5-7 meals a day. Eat clean, but eat often. Consume at least 1-1.5 grams of protein per lb. Also make sure you are eating complex carbohydrates as well. Make sure you are training heavy and intense, getting plenty of sleep....., and eat, eat, eat!!! Then sit back and watch your body GROW!!

no!!!! assuming u buy from the right ones u will save alot, unless if one of these mail order places actual store is in your area, unfortunatly their is none in my area

let me give u an example
at the cheapest store in my area i would buy 2 5lbs of whey at $30 each
then 3 boxes of bars at 30 dollars each ,plus tax
that is $150 plus tax about 163

mail order 24+24 for protein, the 25 a box for bars, 123 plus 5-7 shipping,no tax because its not in my state , is 130
some sites ..like nutritionmegastore.com give free shipping for over $ 100 purchases,

here are some good sites,for brand name ..www.dpsnutrition.com www.nutritionmegastore.com www.completesupplements.com www.sruonline.com

also for protein ,creatine and other specfic substances www.proteinafactory.com, www.kilosports.com www.beyond-a-century.com
