I need to get bigger - I am currently operating under the assumption that one can only utilize 30 g of protien every 3 hours and that more juist gets wasted or burned as fuel when reducing carbo intake and uppin protien instead - Is this about right still - I am 6'1 and 262 - want to hit 270. I can only get about 180 grams on this 30g by 3 hour schedule. Should I try to take in more protien in the 3 hours time frame or not? Also for PER I thought it was egg albumin that was #1 and not whey - I use milk, salmon, tuna and eggs with a little protien shake to supplement. Any thoughts on Creatin - as I read that it may just cause muscles to hold more fluid... So looking for the best protien efficiency and how to get 1 g per pound that gets put to use and not wasted - thanks for the help -

I don't buy it that a person cannot absorb more than 30 grams of protein. it sounds like your doing pretty good though, if I were you all I would change is to eat 60-100 grams in a 4 hour period after a workout. creatine will help a little.

i have been experimenting w/ a new diet based on my past experiences!a lil' unorthodox, but it'll get me where i need to be.i am eating every 1-1.5hrs and total approx 13-15 meals, depending on nwhat day it is.weekdays,i total 15 and weekends i total 13.i eat 25g of protein/20g carbs @ every sitting.my main protein source is whey isolate and chicken.my carb sources include broccolli and rice.for fat,i slice approx 3-4 almonds on the broccolli for taste.in 2 weeks,i have gained 7lbs of quality muscle.i can tell quality, because my waist is the same @ 30" and my abs/vascularity are still sharp.i'm still full looking and beleive i will hit my goal naturally of 220lbs.i am presently @ 207lbs-5'11".to do this, you must rely on whey protein isolate and tons of broccolli bags.if you can handle eating the same thing over and over again, then this diet is for you.fyi. ------------------

What does the broccholi do? I'll eat it if it will produce... ( ha - get it produce.. ) Anywho - I think i am neurotic to do every 3 hors I could never do 1.5, though you clearly have a great regiem. I will have to try the increased volume of protien and see what happens - Thanks!

Here's a couple of tips for putting on Lean Body Mass. Creatine (enhanced delivery---Phosphagen HP or Cell Tech---or with Fruit juice) immediately after workouts, Protein 30 min- 1 hr after workouts, 1 hour before sleep, and 1st thing in a.m. Be sure to get a good amount of carbs (preferably slow burning carbs like beans, whole grain rice, etc) everytime you take protein, it facilitates protein synthesis. Drink LOTS of H20, lift heavy (compound movement---limit or eliminate isolated movements), and limit or eliminate the cardio.

I can't understand why you suddenly need advice for getting bigger. At 6.1 and 262lbs isn't that big enough. I gather your not fat either otherwise you wouldn't be wanting to get bigger. I also gather as well your natural otherwise you wouldn't be on the supplement board asking questions. To get up to your weight at your height you obviously know all the tricks for getting bigger. Why suddenly now do you need to know how to gain an extra 8 pounds? Are you sure those figures are right because this doesn't sound right. When I was 220lbs everyone said I was huge wherever I went. I couldn't imagine myself at 270lbs. I wouldn't be able to buy any clothes.

262 at 6'1"??? Holy smokes? How lean are you? Taking any gear? My training partner is a natural 230 at 6'1", and he's under 10% bf. He is one big S.O.B. for a natural, one of the biggest at our gym. If you haven't used creatine at your weight, those 7 pounds should come pretty easy, granted everything else stays in line. Seems that with creatine, the bigger you are, the better it works (more muscle=more room for extra water).

Yes - the figures are right 6'1 265 now... With water intake upping to 267. 263 in the am which is a more 'true' measure. I have had to go up a waist size to 38 - which is getting snug now due to weight. I am smooth but not fat... Yes natural and the strongest I have ever been ( which aint that impressively strong.. ) Just got my seated military to 225 - im proud of that. I have had folks tell me more water, but I dont want to bloat - my rapid few pounds if because I have taken the advice and really begun the water intake. I am considering creatin so I appreciate the words on that. I just want to hit 270 and be solid, vs add fat to get up there which woudl be way too easy for me to do. I appreciate the advice on the increase of protiens post work out - see I am looking for collective thoughts from a like - minded group - And thats why I asked... Clothes - right - no sportcoats or suits for me w/ out wayy too much hasstle. Its usually the tri's that wont fit in the sleeves - BUt Thats what I want - Peace! Any word on the broccholi?

deadman,in my opinion,if you're smooth at your current weight, then adding a few xtra lbs will only make you look smoother and fatter.i beleive that if you shed some of that bodyfat and set a goal for 240 lbs w/ less bodyfat, you will look better and bigger then @ 270 lbs with more bodyfat.the waist increase is not a good sign...it shows you're adding fat my friend.with a frame like yours,my main goal would be to shed bodyfat...trust me when i tell you, that you will look way bigger and feel better about yourself.dude,@ 245 lbs(natural) you would be friggin' huge.245 w/ low bf levels???...way friggin' huge. ps:the broccolli is used as a main carb source.starchy carbs(when over eaten)for me anyways, tend to increase my bodyfat %;this why i eat tons of broccolli...to avoid getting fat.good luck bro. ------------------ |
