Other than gear, what would be the best supplements/products to gain size and loose fat? PLEASE BE SPECIFIC. NAME BRANDS Does anything come close to all those claims that you see in the magazines? Im 40+ years old and a hard gainer. Please help an old dude out.

well dude i'll be the first to crack the barrel and tell you that food is #1 and weights #2. Before you think about supplements these two have to be intact. Make sure you're consuming 200g-300g of protein/day and you drink a 20gcarb/40gprotein shake after a workout. Actually within 45min. of a work out. Now for supplements creatine has worked the best for me. I like Prolab's creapure, you don't need all that fancy creatine crap. Multivitamin is essential, and some claim flax seed oil is essential as well. I take a tablespoon a day. You can buy Barleans or just make sure it's cold pressed, with a higher ratio of omega 3's to omega 6's. These along with your protein shake or meal replacement shakes should do the job for now. Make sure you aren't going to the gym 7 days a week now, or that you aren't there for more than an hour and a half (including warm up). Lates

risky said it right bro. the only thing I would contribute is that NLarge has always worked well for me while bulking. Prolab makes quality products you can trust, other brands aren't as carefull about purity and potency as they do. The best you can do is eat, after that and in this order Protein/Glutamine/ECA/Creatine everything else is just alot of money. Prohormones like diol-4 work great for some such as myself, but not so good for other, but NEVER EVER 'dis' it till you've tried it. feel free to email me.

Oh, and I forgot to add, at your age, I advise on getting Glucosamine to protect your joints.

I am not gonna lie to you, I've never used this product(I'm 20 years old), but at the gym I use to work at I knew a lot of older gymrats that swore by this stuff. From everything that I've heard and read, it is definetly worth the money. You should look for Glucosamine-Choroidrin(sp), and not the ones aimed for older people who sit on their asses all day, you should look for the one's formulated for bodybuilders. I'm sorry I can't be anymore help, but if I find more info, I'll post it.

Thanks. I guess I'll head down to the GNC so they can remove another big chuck of my bank account. I'm going to give it try. Grotto

Here you go: Chodroitin: It's a major component of connective tissue, especially cartilage. It stimulates repair of cartilage cells and blocks enzymes that damage joints. 800-1200mg a day Glucosamine: major building block of cartilage, it reduces joint pain. Take it twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. You should also be taking a multivitamin pack.

glucosamine and chondition is great ,its one of the only supplements worth buying in my opinoin it worked for me and alot of people i talk to too,but for some people it doesnt work,i get better results from using 2.5-3 grams a day of G and 1.5g-2.5g of C i dont think their is any other the counter products that will help u gain size other than a high calorie diet, but weight gainers and bars can help u in eating more calories, creatine might also help some people( it never worked for me) but i hear it works for alot of people, but nothing over the counter will bring u dramitic results, the closest thing would probably just be a high calorie diet the over the counter fat loss supplements or possible fat loss stacks u can make from over the counter products are effective from what ive heard [This message has been edited by chillin408 (edited February 28, 2001).]

Glucosamine HCL and Chondroitin Sulfate. Some studies are also including manganese ascorbate. Try PubMed(medline search) for the real nitty gritty on the studies that have been done. In a few studies I've read this supplement has been shown to be as efficacious as NSAIDS(ibuprofen, vioxx, etc.) That's fairly impressive. It probably does not regenerate too much cartilage, but it does help to prevent or slow further deterioration of cartilaginous structures.

Boner What does that have to do with his question? He didn't state that he had bad joints just that he wanted to grow. ------------------

Glucosamine is good...celebrex even better but obviously much more expensive since it is a prescription drug. What kind of hard gainer are you? One who gains weight in general slowly? Or one who gains muscle slowly but fat quickly? That is a good place to start before anyone recommends that eat your bodyweight in food. ------------------ College educated Asian and Russian girls seeking foreign men (not mail-order brides-that is the illegal side of the foreign dating industry),1.5 cents per minute long distance, prescription viagra, propecia, celebrex, and other interesting stuff for men. |
