My dad had a heart attack on new years day.Luckily it wasnt a serious one and he didnt require any surgery and only spent 3 days in the hospital. The doctor prescribed him Plavix, aspirin, and prevacid.Right now Im trying to construct for him some vitamins and other things to take.First Im wondering if any of you know if these drugs will have drug interactions with any supplements? Also can you guys give me any advice on what supplements to get? These past few days have been very hard on me and i would appreciate any help, thanks. ------------------

If your father's heart attack is related to cholestrol deposits in his arteries then he'll need to clear them. This means he needs to take omega 3 daily. A tablespoon of flax oil will be ideal. Omega 6 in the form of sunflower seeds will also help. Pumpkin seeds contain both omega 3 and 6 and he'd need to eat 4 tablespoons of these seeds a day to get enough. Another way is to take a EPA supplement with omega 3 fish oils and evening primrose oil (not just evening primrose oil alone). Kordels have an excellent product. Another supplement called red rice yeast may also help clear his arteries. Discuss this with someone at a health food store Vitamins E (400mg) and C (2000mg) are also crucial for heart health. Combine the vitamin C with lysine. Take 1000mg of niacin daily. Avoid fried foods (too many trans-fats) and reduce animal foods. Ideally he should become a vegan if his heart health is that serious. Give up smoking (if applicable) and salt. Eat lots of fresh fruit and veges. I hope there are enough ideas here to help you. I hope your dad gets better soon.
