If you can suggest any other supplements etc that i can take that would also help out a great deal. there are some workouts in the training forum. I train 3-4 days a week I think that's probably best for mass. eat constantly, throughout the day. whenever you can fit in a snack do it.

brotha! you weigh 130! shit my girlfriend weighs 130... you need to eat and eat and eat some more. If you're new to working out stay away from supplements for at least the first 6 months of you training seriously. check this out 1. you need to do compound exercises, like flat bench, squats, pull ups etc. forget isolation exercises 2. eat 6 small meals a day, make sure you're eating enough though... at least 3000 cals/day 3. make sure you eat something small at least 1 hour before gym so you don't burn any muscle, and don't run on empty stomach unless you want to burn muscle/fat. 4. work out 3 or 4 days/week 5. stay away from supplements except for maybe protein, meal replacemements, and maybe l-glutamine.

when i was in high school i bought a few rubbermaid bottles and a lot of meal replacement powders...i'd bring maybe 3 bottles with just the powder in them everyday. whenever i had a few minutes (between classes) i'd hit a water fountain, shake it up and drink it on my way to the next class. sometimes i'd get a flavor mrp that mixed well with ultra fuel and add in the ultra fuel for extra calories...good luck

Hey Epix, I'm happy to see that you have an interest in weight training. There are three things that will help you become successful: 1. Training 2. Diet & Nutrition 3. Rest Be sure to do the basics. I recommend fixing your diet. Once you have a healthy diet down, only then do I recommend that you start using supplements. Since you are a beginner, creatine will not do much for you. Creatine may add 5-10 pounds in a few weeks, but all that weight is only temporary, because it's all water. If you do decide to use some supplements, this is all I recommend that you take. Each supplement is listed in order of importance. 1. Multi-vitamin and minerals, Antioxidants Here's a basic program to follow that will help you build mass and you won't have a problem recovering between workouts. Monday/Thursday I recommend that you do this routine for 8 weeks. For the first week, do not train heavy. Be sure to practice each movement in perfect form. Once you feel comfortable doing these exercises, then start training heavy. Each of those sets shouldn't be taken to failure. They should be difficult. Be sure to do 2 warm up sets before you do your work sets. You don't need to do warm up sets for the first week. Once you become more comfortable training heavy, I recommend training to failure. Be sure to always have a spotter. If you have any more questions, please ask. Good luck. ------------------ Check out http://pub30.ezboard.com/bhitsgymofbodybuilding -HB-

Hey epix, I to just started training, except for me it was about 2 - 2.5mths ago. I was 5'8 and 125lbs to start. I persnally think that Marku Ruhl kicks some extreme ass, I now idolize the guy. I too used to eat like shit. That has to be the first thing to stop. Start eating like a horse, your appitite will grow after time, but eat as much as possible when ever you can. Since your in high school, bring stuff like peanuts, fresh fruit, good food that you can eat between class and if possible during class. I workout six days a week, and I rip my muscles to the bone, in a month or two, start lifting 75-80% of your 1 rep max. Dont bother going slow, keep good detail on form, and explode into each set and rip off as many as possible. Always try for 2 forced reps, meaning, always do 2 more reps then you ever thought possible, try not to go over 11 reps per set, te weight should be heavy enough for 6-10 reps. I recomend Creatine, Glutamine, and protien to start, then in a month or 2, get a 3000-4000 calorie shake mix. Weiders victory series is good. Devide it by 4 to start then move up, so 1000 calories a day first week, 2000 the next and so on until your drinking all 4000 calories. When you start this, drop the protien, because you'll be getting 222gm of protien a da, and the Glutamine really helps synthasize all that protien. If you ahve any questions about anything especially coming from a semi-newbee myself, e-mail me. after about 2mths of hard training, I now weigh 140lbs.

Hey Shaner, You're recommending creatine to a beginner? At his level of experience creatine will not help him. Creatine does not build muscle. Creatine is a performance enhancer. Creatine is good for strength gains. People who take creatine are people that no longer see any improvements on their lifts. I don't recommend Epix should use creatine starting out. He should wait until he becomes more advanced. And why should he get a 3000-4000 calorie gainer? Most gainers are useless for building muscle. Taking in too many calories all at once is doing more harm than good. Most of the calories which is from protein and a lot of carbs will be converted to fat. I tried Weider's Mega Mass 2000 and 4000. They are both crap, not to mention all Weider products are crap. 1 serving of Mega Mass 4000 has over 180 grams of carbs and about 80 grams of protein. Your body cannot absorb all of that. Most of the fractions will be converted into fat. Weider is not a reputable company. And epix, watch out. Do not take over 260 grams of protein. You should ideally take in between 1-2 grams of protein per pound of body weight. As long as you're getting at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, you're fine. It's not good to take in too much. Stick with reputable brands like: AST, Biochem, Champion Nutrition, Cytodyne, GEN, Labrada, Muscle Link, Next Nutrition, Prolab, Twinlab, Universal. These are all good companies. Take care epix. ------------------ Check out http://pub30.ezboard.com/bhitsgymofbodybuilding -HB-

I dont know guys, it sounds to me this guy thinks supplements create miracles. Only way to get the mass u want is working out hard, and latter take the supplements to supplement ur diet. Remember supplements are just what the name says it is, a supplement. Maybe take some protein, or weight gainer, get some calories man, you are small. NO offense. Good luck.

At that weight you need to get down and do some serious eating. At this stage don't bother with the supps. About 5 years ago I asked a pro in the gym what he eats to gain and he told me he eats 10 bananas a day and a whole load of tofu and water. At that time I weighed 75kg. After taking his advice I went up to 99kg within the year just by supplementing my diet with bananas (about 7 a day-I became known as Mr. Banana), water (3 litres a day) and tofu. I would put the bananas and water in a bag and consume throughout the day. I did put on quite a bit of fat as well but I wasn't concerned as I was just looking to gain weight. I don't know the prices in the U.S. but in Japan bananas, water and tofu are very cheap so you can eat well without forking out money on expensive supps which at your age may blow your budget. I also trained in the gym 6 days a week which I know is alot but in the beginning I guess you can get away with it. I now only train 4 days a week.

Hey man, I was pretty skinny when I got out of High School too. The way I bulked up was living the All-American college frat boy life style, boy let me tell you I put on at least 25-30 lbs of pure beer and late night tacos (good times)freshman year, hey it worked for me!! Seriously though, it is not easy to bulk up, if you want to get big you have to treat it like a full time job to reach your goal, and you will have to work harder to maintain it. First, you must realize that there is no magic supplement to make you big (except AS), but with absolute stubborn will and determination you can do it. I recommend going to the bookstore and look for some guidebooks or find someone at your gym to help you out with a routine. Each person has their own way of reaching desired athletic goals, you need to find your best way and go for it. As far as supplements go, they are secondary, but I can definitely recommend a whey protein formula in any workout situation. Best of Luck to you! ------------------

bro, listen to everyone on this board. the most important things you need to keep in mind are: eating every two hours from when you get up till bed, lift hard 4-5 times a week, and make sure you get rest. rest is very important and people underestimate it. eat, eat, eat. |
