in order to cut down on body fat slowly whil building lbm, lots of fiberous veggies, meat, and moderate carbs would be ideal in conjunction with short, intense heavy training and vigorous mountain biking correct??? this seams very straight forward but if consuming alcohol often then there is very little chance to burn anything right???

See, alcohol is proceeded first in the liver, ahead of all other stuff. in addition, one gram of alcohol has around 7 calories, while 1g of protein is around 3 and 1g of carb is around 4. And I think you will agree on that - those alcohol calories are not the muscle builders... Mylo

if i remember correctly yes alcohol is metabolized in the liver and your body uses a lot of B6 to compensate with all the alcohol. Well on top of damaging liver and causing imbalance with vits. and minerals it also causes muscle catabolism, it will eat at your muscle, especially the new just forming strands which are more delicate. I just stopped drinking when i found out it caused muscle catabolism, not a good thing when you're busting your ass just to lose what u earned.

Good question, and yes alcohol really has no positives to offer your body at all. I go out with my buddies maybe every three or four months to run the bars and just "get out". I think it's healthy for you mentally and provides an occasional outlet for the strict discipline you follow normally. But to try and bust your ass to lose bodyfat and then drink on top of that.......not good. If I'm trying to cut......no alcohol for sure, burn one if you have too. Later.
