I hear people eating 6 to 12 eggs at one sitting. What is it doing that other Carbs and Proteins do not. I cant eat 12 eggs at one time, I throw up after 2 but I usually nuke it in the microwave to eat it scrambled. Still I do not see why eating so many is necessary. IP: Logged |

To get enough protein bro. Two egg whites is about 6g of protein. You're not gonna grow on a whopping 6g of protein. You should get a very minimum of 30g a meal but really should try for at least 40g. I have never had a problem downing a dozen egg whites with a cup of oats mixed in. IP: Logged |

Eggs are also relatively inexpensive, easy to cook and taste good w/out having to get fancy. Try mixing a couple of whole eggs with the rest being whites only. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Eggs have always been at the top of the list as a protein source for BBs mainly because of their bioavailability. They are an easily digested and assimilated source of protein. Typically, when a BB says they eat 12 eggs, they take out some of the yolks, so they aren't really eating 12 whole eggs. The # they eat has more to do with making sure they're getting their 30 or 40 grams of protein since you lose some when you toss the yolks. You need some of the yolks or you will lose the amino acid profile. If you really hate eggs, forget them and just make your remaining protein choices wisely. Good protein powders are pretty much leading the pack these days as far as bioavailability. [This message has been edited by IronChick (edited August 12, 2000).] IP: Logged |

They are just another source of protein to use. As mentioned they are cheap and can be used in a various ways. By eating them, it helps keep me employed, which other foods do not. So everyone eat them things.. ------------------ IP: Logged |
