I've been trying to get lean with pretty disasterous results. I've gone from 225 to 217 in 4 wks, but my bf% has remained exactly the same! My diet: My workout: I do about 9-12 sets per body part , in the 12-8 rep range. Am I overtraining? Do I need to reduce carbs? reduce fat? Increase cardio? Please help! IP: Logged |

Ican see rught now what your doing wrong, first off your ratio should be 60%-protein, 25%-carbs, and 15%-fat, you are eating weigh too many carbs and fat, also do not eat any carbs past 3:00 o'clock and do 1 hour cardio each morning on an empty stomach 5 days a week. That should solve the problem rightnow it looks like your losing muscle if this doesn't work try a keto diet!!!!! IP: Logged |

sorry, but i'm definitely going to have to disagree with pinge. that is the opposite of what he wants to do. if you do not want to go on a straight keto diet, then 1) pick up a thermo and supplement with glutamine 2) keep your carbs where they are...about 40%, eating most of them b4 6pm and most importantly... 3) drop the protein by at least 50 grams and substitute fat for those calories when people go on diets they get in the habit of staying away from fat. this is a VERY bad idea. when your body has hardly any fat coming in, it's going to hoard all the fat it has stored, which is the opposite of what you want. if you eat 60% of your cals from protein, half of that is going to be useless and stored as fat. like i said, your carb intake looks reasonable, as does your training and cardio (don't do more than 2 hours/week). basically drop the protein, up the fat a little, and get a thermo agent and you should be fine. It gets worse than that! Storing the extra protein as fat would probably be the best-case scenario. At worst, your body will learn to use it as fuel in the absence of other nutrients, and you won't be able to eat enough to make gains in the future, or keep your mass while dieting. Carbs and fat are for energy, not protein. IP: Logged |

thanks for the info. I'll try replacing the protien with fat. This leads me to another question about different types of fat: Does it matter what *kind* of fat I eat or is it just the total amount? thanks. [This message has been edited by lpw (edited August 02, 2000).] IP: Logged |

Try to get essential fatty acids from flax, hemp, Udo's or other such oils. Also, try to get some saturated fat to keep testosterone up from eggs and lean red meat, or milk. IP: Logged |

sorry...i meant nevermind cuz originally you typed your reply backwards (you said replace fat with protein) and i was just making sure you knew it was the other way around, and then you changed it so i was like ok nevermind haha. sounds like you're good to go. definitely add some flax seed oil in your diet. Thanks you guys. I'll up the fat, include some flax seed oil and more egg yolks, and hopefully start seeing some results! IP: Logged |
