![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I found two sites with descriptions of or the calculation for mets (I always wondered too and these helped a me understand a little more, but I need to read more to truly understand how to use it): One stated mets=VO2max/3.5 The other: During movement (exercise, work tasks), energy consumption is increased (mainly by skeletal muscle). The increase above BMR is measured by the metabolic equivalent (MET). A MET is a multiple of the BMR, measured in ml O2 kg.-1 min.-1. 1 MET = approximately 3.6 ml O2 kg.-1 min.-1. More generally: 1 MET = Basal Metabolic Rate. E.g. for an average man: IP: Logged |
