I sustained an injury, and I will not be able to lift or run for 2 weeks. Should I change my diet in any way? I assume I should cut back on calories, since my overall activity level will be low and the calories will not be burning as rapidly. I eat 6 meals a day, 3 of which are shakes. I consume between 2500-2800 calories a day. What would any of you recommend? Thanks, Joe ------------------ "You think that is PAIN?!?! It is premature enlightenment." IP: Logged |

If it is only for two weeks I would not cut back the calories too far. You will need some of your calories to heal your injuries. It takes 3500 extra calories a week to put on just one pound of weight. You did not say what your normal caloric intake should be. Are you currently eating at your level or eating more to build mass? ------------------ IP: Logged |

My BMR is about 3700 calories, so I consume between 2500-2800 calories because I am trying to lose bodyfat. I currently weigh 251 lbs at 19% bodyfat. Thanks, Joe ------------------ "You think that is PAIN?!?! It is premature enlightenment." IP: Logged |

If you are already on a weight loss program by restricting your caloric intake I would not reduce it even further. Where you are at now is fine. Even though you are not as active, you are below your BMR and you still need calories to heal the injury. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Thanks for the advice. I'll do exactly that, and hopefully be back on the rack in 12 days. Thanks, Joe IP: Logged |
