hey, I need to know this: how many grams of protien does the body take in per sitting, and how long should you wait between taking protien...for example, if I were to drink a shake with a meal and get about 50-60 grams, howlong should I wait before taking another 50-60 grams? Ive heard three hours, but when I hear people talking about 300-350 grams a day, the "every three hour thing" I go on now wouldnt work...if anyone knows how often I should take protien, please respond!!!

40-60 grams every 2-3 hours works for me.

the reason why you here people taking in more than 300 grams is that they have huge bodies with lots of lean muscle mass. The amount of protein you can take in depends on how big you are; someone who is 250 requires more protein to maintain muscle growth, then someone who is 150.it all depends on you size and what works for you. space your intake 2-3 hours apart and drink shit loads of water.

I'm pretty light at only 123 pounds. I've always found it difficult to force myself to eat, let alone eat the right things. As a rule of thumb, from what I've been told, one gram of protein per body weight is a good start. I found my solution in supplements, GNC weight gainer and whatever whey protein I have in the house at the time. On days that I train and the morning after, I eat lots of tuna and eggs which leaves my breath smelling awful. Supplements get expensive but they are much more concentrated than other foods, and allow me to get everything I need when I'm not in the mood to sit and eat a meal.

Also, I've learned that a lot of what you eat in every meal is never used and wasted. Usually the optimum amount of ingestable protein per meal is around 35 to 50g. After that, you reach a point of diminishing returns where you might only absorb one out of every four grams of protein in that meal. That's why its much better to spread all of your nutrients over multiple meals throughout the day. Whether it be six, eight, or ten.
