I try to get as many complex carbs as possible regardless of my weight or what I have eaten earlier in the day. I eat a bowl of pasta and some rice with a few mushrooms just for taste. I don't bother counting grams as it's to boring. Some glutamine is also good. For everyone who reads this please don't disagree too much. I've already had my last two user mnames deleted. Don't make them do it again.

My pre workout meal depends a little on what bodypart I am going to train. I like to eat as much food as possible before I train chest or shoulders. However, I like to cut it down a little before I train legs. If I eat to much before I train legs, I may vomit all over the gym and may not be invited back. I usually like to get about 40-50 grams of protein, along with some glutamine, and I like a mixture of complex and simple carbs so I will get a quick burst of energy and from the simple carbs and the complex carbs will sustain the energy throughout my workout.

I usually eat a grapefriut and that's it. I don't imagine that would work for most, but is seems to work for me. But to be honest, I get my absolute best performance when I consume more fat before a workout/game...especially the game ( I play hockey). The energy burn is incredible. Unfortunately though, I gain weight if I do it very often so it's not an everyday solution.

typically no, no protein before workout because it boggs you down. Try a couple of experiments...1. try adding a serving of flax seed oil to your preworkout protein drink and note your energy levels. 2. Try consuming a serving of carb before your workout and note the energy levels. 3. Now try adding a serving of flax seed oil to your carb and note your energy levels/endurance. If youre like me, you'll do much better on option #3 when it comes to performance. It's not an option for me when I'm cutting You may be someone who burns fat stores easily and do just as well if not better on preworkout protein meals. Since youre not really burning protein, you'll be more inclined to burn fat stores on this approach. The key here is to see how you respond best when manipulating one or more of the three. Then remember to change it once in a while to shock your body.

hmm, sounds interesting. i dont do carbs when im dieting down cuz i dont need the energy, i get that from the Ripped Fuel. but the flaxseed oil os a great idea..ive thought about ding that.

but since im a fairly big boy (6'2, 233) i need all the protein i can get, so i cant afford not getting the 30-40 grams i get before my workout...
