So it's 2:00 in the afternoon, and I have the munchies. Not really hungry just feel like snacking on something as I work. I use to snack on planters peanuts but it was getting alot out of control. Too much fat. So I was looking for ideas. Any ?

At 2:00 in the afternoon, if you are looking for munchies, I would grab about 10 thin pretzels (only 100 calories). They are low in fat or fat free. It is also early enough for me that the carbs will be used later in my p.m. workout. IP: Logged |

I do not know what kind of diet your on but Next Protein the makers of Designer Protein, came out with a high protein snack called Nextra Protein Crunch Snacks. Not to bad. Or eat a protein bar. Thats what I would do but depends on what your going for. IP: Logged |

I usually do my workouts over the lunch hour starting at 11:30. Lunch is at 1:00. 40 grams of protein at 1:00 and about the same or less in carbs. But as I am working, around 2:00ish I get the need to just munch on something. I actually found these nothing rice cakes yesterday that seemed to so the trick. for 8 small cakes P=.7,F=1.2,C=3.9 total 57 cal. I try an do a high protein 20-40g snack at 3:30, to hold me till dinner. It's like when you go to the movies and you just have to munch for the sake of munching cause your at the movies. Thanks for your ideas. IP: Logged |

I'd definitely up the protein and carbs in your post-workout meal. This is your best window of opportunity for protein intake as your muscles are craving the carbs and protein for a few hours after the workout. The most likely reason you have munchies at 2 PM is because your body has burned right through your 1 PM food. If you can't increase the intake with your 1 PM lunch, then I'd definitely eat a protein bar or drink a protein shake for your 2 PM snack. Without knowing your weight and your eating patterns, it's hard to say just how much protein you should be taking in per meal. I'd also try to get 30-40g of protein about an hour or so before your workout. Remember to try to stick to 6 meals per day, and a snack can be considered a meal as long as you're getting sufficient protein and carbs/fat, depending on your diet goals. IP: Logged |

I weight 160lbs and am pretty lean. So I am making every effort to consume 160-200 g of protein per day. Breakfast=40g,MidMorning=30g,Lunch=40g,MidAfternnon=30g,Dinner=40g,Evening=20g. These are approx. What I try and get in. Times are 6:30,9:30,1:00,3:30,5:30,9:00. I find if I eat anymore carbs at lunch, I need a couple of cups of coffee to stay awake. Now mind you with all this, I have gained nothing over the last few months but have been getting stonger. I have a high metabolism. Maybe I should include another protein at 2:00.
