Whether it is for mass or dieting, your total caloric intake is based on three factors which we all know as protein, carbs and fat. As an example, if your caloric intake is suppose to be 2500 calories a day and let's say you weigh 150 pounds. 1 gram per pound is 150 grams or 600 calories. The other part of the plan is to know how much % of fat you want per day. This will very depending on what you want to set it at. Let us say it is 30%. 2500 divided by 30% is 750 calories of fat or 83.3 grams (fat has 9 calories/gram). The rest of your calorie intake would be carbs of 1350 or 337.5 grams (carbs have 4 calories/gram). As you can see, once you know how much protein and fat you want to consume then the rest will be carbs. In the example above it is almost 2 grams per body pound. IP: Logged |

Beezers, some suggestions I could make is to definately increase your "good" fat intake. Try buying some Liquid Flax Seed oil. This is a good source of essential fatty acids (Omega 3). This will bump up the fat % if you take 2 - 3 Tablespoons a day. Each tablespoon is around 110 calories or 12 grams of fat. Just these 3 tablespoons a day with what you are eating now will bring you up to about 22% of fat. As for the protein, according to my figures if you are taking 1 gram of protein per body pound you must weigh around 310 pounds. I am guessing you weigh less than that so you could drop you protein intake slightly to make up for your increase in fat. Try this: 22% fat (682cal) as mentioned, 30% protein (233grams = 930.5cal) and 48% carbs (372grams = 1488). This will get you headed in a good direction. As time goes on you can increase and decrease numbers to fit what you are trying to do at that time. IP: Logged |
