I have been hearing so much different information regarding what kind of protein to take, when to take it. Now can some please give me a solid answer as to what type of protein to take for muscle development, how many grams per day is sufficient, should I take a shake before a workout or after, and also someone told me that your body can only handle 25 grams of protein per meal - is that a fact? Also should glutamine be mixed in your protein shakes? Thanks for you help. Richie IP: Logged |

You want to try to have a complete protein sources to eat. These are ones that contain the essential amino acids (leucine, valine, tryptophan, threonine, methionine, phenylalanine, and histidine). Meat sources, as well as whey, milk, eggs and fish are just a few examples that all have good sources of protein. Most people involved with bodybuilding recommend that you try to get at LEAST one gram of protein for each pound you weigh. (150 grams for 150lb person). It is very important that you get some kind of protein after a workout. As for how much the body can digest per meal, I have seen reports saying anywhere from 25 to 40 grams per meal. I think the science world is still working on that. Also each person might be able to digest different amounts per meal. This may be why nothing is definite here. IP: Logged |
