On another posting (about diet pop) various people sad that sweetners caused a insulin spike - which they say is a bad thing. I thought that insulin spikes were good? That's why you are best to take creatine with dextrose? Can anyone clarify. IP: Logged |

Insulin spikes are good if you want to put on size, but if they are the last thing you want if you are trying to cut up. IP: Logged |

If your trying to cut up (like I am)...are a few insulin spikes ok? For instance....I usually eat 4 to 6 tablespoons of peanut butter, along with a protien bar, protien shake, and Meal replacement shake....which all taste sweet to me. Are these still ok when cutting? Gare IP: Logged |

Relax a bit. The effect of sweet tasting foods on your insulin levels is minimal when the meal has fats and proteins in it as well. You just don't want to go drinking diet (or regular) soda all by itself if you're trying to cut up. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I have never had a problem with diet sodas bootin me out of ketosis, so I think that the sweet taste (at least for me) is not that big of a deal. On a CKD you will do anything to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings, and I find these drinks to be of great use. The sweetner in diet colas is aspartame, so as far as a sweetener with a higher sweetness level and its effects on spiking insulin goes, I do not have much experience with them while in ketosis. What exactly does an insulin spike do? Does it increase absorbtion by your muscles? Can some body explain the concept and physiology? IP: Logged |
